UT Football. Is it plausible to believe we can win it all?

They have their problems. Don't fall for the media hype that will surround these guys. Sure, they return a lot of talent, but this a group that lost to UCLA and Oregon St. last year.

And they have the Mustain circus coming to town to crash their party.

1)Senior veteran QB
2)Number 3 ranked backfield in the nation. All of their RB's were parade all-american
3)WR's aren't slouches. Patrick Turner and Vidal Hazleton both tall fast receivers
4)Number 2 ranked OL in the country
5)Top ranked DL in nation
6)Number 1 LB corp in nation. All of their LB's are preseason All-American
7)Top ranked DS in nation

I don't really see any problems with that, do you?

You just blasted someone for being ridiculous and then you post this. USC has been to a BCS bowl 5 years in a row. They've lost about 5 or 6 games in the past 5 years. Several of those years there have been questions regarding a position unit and it never ends up being a problem. Any hype they get is well-deserved. Yeah they had letdowns in a couple of games, but they also throttled Arkansas. As for Mitch Mustain, Pete Carroll will laugh in his face and his mother's face if they attempt to meddle in his program. This isn't Houston Nutt we're talking about.

I have to agree with this.. I hate listening to hype as much as anyone, but if USC doesn't deserve it, who does?

Mustain isn't saving a coaches job by coming to USC. There, he's just another top ranked player like everyone else. If he or mom/dad causes problems he'll never see the field and nobody will care.

Good thing we play the games and not rely on the teams accolades to decide the victor.

After not winning the SEC in 8 years?
I think most analysts don't view it as plausible.
UT did win the SEC in 97 before winning the NC in 98.

That is true, the whole time I was reading and typing that I was thinking this is preseason stuff. I remember the last time we had that many all americans and top notch groups. But you are right, they look good on paper, we will just have to wait and see how their season progresses. But the question that was asked was there is no team in the country with question marks. That is why I answered So. Cal.

Tennesse has almost no chance of winning it all this year, I can't believe that is even being discussed here. How about just win an SEC title. For that I would probably give you 5 to 10 percent odds. Florida and LSU will be the two best teams this year and LSU will probably end up winning the SEC.

Yeah, because replacing 9 defensive starters, a starting QB, the top WR, and opening up a new offense are easy things to do. Florida won't win more than 9 games.

I was only responding to a poster saying USC had no questions coming into the season. I belive they do.

they certainly do on offense where they need to replace their 3 year starter at center, their only playmakers on offense in jarrett and smith, and need to find some sort of running game.

I do. USC is a top 2-3 team no doubt, but some of this is definetly media hype.

1) I'd hardly call Booty a veteran, just experienced with only 1 year as a starter under his belt.
2) Who cares what freshmen are coming in? They are freshmen..
3) They have talent there, but it is really unproven.
4) Probably accurate.
5) According to what? I'm not denying this though, we'll see how good that DL is compared to LSU's when an average Pac-10 runs for over 125 yards on them..
6) Once again, freshmen don't always help.. and I don't see their LBs being much better than ours.
7) Not denying this either.. but could easily be more media hype and end up being #2-5..

Either way, USC is a great team and probably the favorite to win it and I'm not taking anything away from em..

They're the most talented and deepest team to go along with a great coach and an average schedule. Its their title to lose.

Last year after losing two Heisman Trophy winners was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and they still won 11 games and won the Rose Bowl.

This year they will be focused knowing they have it all, and Pete Carroll is no doubt the best coach out there right now, so I would rather be them than anyother team out there.

I can't stand USC, but over the past couple of years I love to watch them play. I think it was Leinarts Junior year they absolutely drilled everyone they played. Most teams will have a 3 or 4 year phase in which they dominate and then they drop back to the pack a little bit, with Carrol at the helm at USC, I don't see them ever dropping back into the pack with others. They have the potential to win the championship every year for years to come I believe.

John (I'm not going to give him the satisfaction of saying his middle name) Booty is apparently the Heisman leader according to ESPN. I wouldn't weigh to much on that... but Bush was definetly deserving. But I think it's ridiculous, if there's no huge standout player.. they just hand it to an good USC/ND/Big 10 player.

It's most definitely something special to watch. It's not often you see a team that actually can win the National Title year in and year out for a long period of time.

They have been capable of winning it every year since 2002.

That's true about the Heisman, but with all the talent surrounded by him, even with the departure of Jarrett and Smith, he'll have the weapons to win it.

Bush was a great running back, but if they waited till after the bowl games like they should, Vince Young would have won the Heisman in 2005.

And yes, JD Booty improved alot over the year last year, and he will probably win the Heisman.

It's really amazing how deep they are. Their backups that never start in their career seem to get drafted and have potential to succeed in the NFL.

I would hardly call USC's schedules "average." USC, IMO, is the all around perfect program right now (unless the alleged recruiting violations are true). They schedule the best OOC schedules in their conference, and even in the nation (amongst BCS schools). They do just about everything right.
