Obviously, since the brain had no part in your comments. I've been a vols fan for 48 years. In case it never dawned on you, without the academic side there would be no university. Which means no athletic department.which means NO football program. Academics is the sole purpose for a university. Education! Ever heard of it? So those of you who think the university exist for the football program, think again your backa$$wards.

I understand what you're saying, but; UT wouldn't be half the University it is academically with out the VOLS. You would spend more for event staff to open the stadium for academic competitions than you would make in admissions. They need each other.:salute:

There would be no Tennessee Volunteers football if there was no University of Tennessee, which is an ACADEMIC institution.

My obsessive interest in UT and college football probably falls in the 'unhealthy' category, but several posts in this thread (which i'm hoping are just trolls) represent the misguided priorities of our society. Yet, we wonder where things went wrong.

That was true 40 years ago, today. if there is not volunteer footballl, the university will die, or at least will shrink to a non relevant size, so... you have to feed the volunteer football monster if you want to exist at all. :hi:
