I've seen the guy as much as anyone, and I know Pastner's proclivities: he'd run point. Just because Lacey is a scorer doesn't mean he can't run point. You Vol fans get too caught up in the "Is he a 1 guard or a 2 guard" debate.

Well, he averaged 2.3 turnovers a game compared to 3.2 assists. Read the link. Mentions that his scoring was effected by handling the ball more. Doesn't sound like a good PG.

We have this view because we haven't had a true PG in 2 years. Golden is too slow, has a score first mentality, and sometimes struggles breaking a press. A true PG would make our offense more efficient.

Again, Memphis has taken Chris Crawford, Joe Jackson, Geron Johnson and Antonio Barton and played them interchangeably at both the 1 and the 2. Lacey would be no different. I don't see what the issue is.

Playing interchangeably at the 1 & 2 sounds different than your original statement that he "would be a PG for Memphis," as if he were exclusively to play PG. I even asked if you were simply talking about guards in the general sense, or specifically PG.

If your assertion now, is that the 1 & 2 in Memphis' system are similar without much, if any distinction, then I agree there is no issue.

It just can't be both.

Johnson has not played much PG- he played a lot more 2 and 3. Just because you have a team with a few guys that can play both doesn't mean that everyone can. I challenge Josh to try to play every guard at PG. Also, just because someone can play PG doesn't mean that is his best position. As Chris said, that is a blanket statement.

This discussion is getting a bit circular for me. He'd be the PG the same way that Joe Jackson is the PG.

In other words, there's no issue with working him into Memphis' system.

That is the point though. Joe Jackson can do that. Not everyone can. Lacey does not handle the ball as well. IMO he is better suited and it is more efficient to play him at SG.

Ok. I gotcha. I still think it's strange because I see Lacey as much more Gerron Johnson than Joe Jackson, but I have a grasp on what you mean now.

That's because we don't have any 1's.

Siva is listed at 6'0" and was a HS AA.

And Chiozza has been listed at 5'11" point being neither is their listed height, they're probably 1-2 inches difference. There's plenty of other <6' PGs who have been effective, Siva was just the first to come to mind...Erving Walker was what, realistically about 5'6"?

Florida just offered.

I'm gonna say this, with the guys Tennessee is recruiting, it's likely either gonna be a very good class, or an oh $hit we're screwed class.

You look at the guys he's targeting and they all have big time programs after them, if he's not able to beat out some of the bigger schools this 2014 class could be ugly, and that's not something this class can be considering how much we will lose.

Copied this from ESPN Insider Recruiting Buzz...

Team Thad 5-foot-9 junior point guard Chris Chiozza continued his stellar play on the April circuit. He is quickly rising up the national point guard rankings and is generating a lot of recruiting interest from elite-level programs looking for a floor leader. Florida's Billy Donavan was a constant presence at his games on Saturday, and Chiozza picked up an offer from the Gators after the Gulf Coast Hoop Fest concluded.

:jawdrop:

Someone needs to check that boy's birth certificate! 14?!?!

My daughter played in a fourth grade AAU tournament this past weekend and there was a six foot tall fourth grade center for one of the other teams.

D@mn, this kid will be a great college pg. Hopefully he will commit in the spring so he can see what kind of team we could have.
