On Friday afternoon,
On3’s Chad Simmons logged an On3 RPM in favor of Oregon to flip Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman On300 offensive lineman
Douglas Utu from Tennessee.
I joined him after talking to a source with knowledge of the recruitment.
Head coach
Dan Lanning and the Ducks really turned it up for the blue-chip Utu after the Vols landed a commitment from five-star offensive tackle
David Sanders Jr. in August. Oregon is losing six of their top seven offensive linemen following the season and the 6-foot-4 315-pound Utu is someone viewed as an instant impact player at the point of attack.
The Oregon staff had good dialogue with the Utu camp on Thursday and as Simmons indicated things are developing fast between the two parties. Utu is tabbed by the On3 Industry as the nation’s No. 57 prospect overall. The Ducks like him as a tackle which is his position of preference.
If Utu jumps in he would join fellow offensive linemen in four-star
Ziyare Addison,
Demetri Manning and Bishop Gorman teammate
Alai Kalaniuvalu.
