'25 UT OG Douglas Utu (Oregon commit)

I don’t know.

I put really good before because that’s what some people in the building believe and I thought that would give me more credibility to say what I saw as his flaws.

Saturday was an absolute disaster and makes me think this is even worse than I thought.
Are we pursuing any OL to replace Utu, or are we hoping to find some good OL in the portal? Just seems like we could kick the tires on some really talented kids committed to schools that aren't doing so well. Like FSU for example. We need more OL talent.

Yep. And McCoy has a chance to be a Day 1 pick.
The state of Texas is overrated in someways and underrated in others when it comes to football.

Brazzell looks to be our most complete WR.
McCoy has everything you want in a CB.
What is he 6’1”? Fast. Instinctive with great feet.
Both of these guys were 3 stars from Texas.
For example: Gibson is playing up to his 4 star ratings at the other CB spot, but McCoy still looks better. He’s a lock down CB and a threat in the return game.

Then you’ll have super hyped players and HS teams from Texas that don’t fare well when they play outside of the state.

Regardless we need to keep finding diamonds in the rough from Texas

Between him and Martinez most definitely. I’d give Elarbee that title slightly at this point
lol. I swear our fans are so damn dumb sometimes. wtf do you want at CB at this point? I get the past criticism but we have two of the better CBs in the conference right now and both are young.

I’m ok with making a move at O-line coach. Elerbee is a weakness
Elarbee isn’t going anywhere. He was Heup’s first hire when he got his first head coaching job. He was promoted to AHC there to make sure he retained him. It will take more than a bump in the road season for him to make a move there.

I’m not weighing in with my opinion on what we should do or anything. I’m simply saying it will take a lot to move on from Elarbee. He’s probably the most entrenched guy on the offensive staff.

do you see us going portal to replace Utu, or funding a hs player?
Wouldn't expect them to find someone near his caliber available at the high school level at this point. They were going to have to go portal regardless but maybe they take another guard in 2026 now idk. OL recruiting has gotten better but that's the one position that takes time so you don't see the fruits for a bit. That's why it's important to stack in the trenches and this staff just did not do that until last class

I think Isaiah Neyor would have fit that description if he hadn't gotten hurt too fwiw

I’ve said this for years. The state obviously turns out a lot of talent, but I think the quantity of talent from such a big state isn’t what it’s hyped up to be.
