UT opens as 12pt favorite over Vandy

11 now. I figured it would be 7-10 at Vandy. Senior day & all that. Going to be a battle; expect it down to the wire, unless our defense really shows up.
Stands will be 70% Vols. The students that go to games will be at home for Thanksgiving and many of the few Vandy fans there are will be selling their tickets.

By the way you could have gone to this game for free. I bought four Vandy season tickets. Sold VA Tech, Alabama, Texas and USC for more than the cost of the season tickets.

I see this being a tight game into the third quarter, then we get a little separation in the 4th.

Need to feed Dylan. Runs, sweeps, screens, the works.
I’ve been clamoring for this all year. I don’t know how know why we don’t utilize him more out of the backfield. Hell, the way our wideouts have underperformed I’d play 2 backs at the same time w/ P Lewis and Sampson occasionally. At least have a package where we can motion Sampson out of the backfield and get a favorable matchup w/ a linebacker.

You're asking for some creativity and imagination from Heupel...good luck with that. He'll just stick with hand the guy the ball right up the middle thank you very much.

If you haven’t watched our performance on the road this season, and haven’t watched any of Vandys performances, just say so. They beat Bama, took Texas within 3, can score just as well, if not better than we can.

If you think this is a gimme, then it’s just pure arrogance. I noticed my question didn’t get answered. And it’s because we haven’t beaten anyone with a pulse by 3 possessions.

Please let the record show that @EastTNVol6240 is indeed scared of Vandy......

Add me to the list of posters concerned about this game. Do I need to take the time to remind you all the upsets in the SEC this year with the game played on the underdogs home field?

I think there definitely could be some more creativity, but at the same time we have a record breaking running back.

Under looks like a solid bet 48.5
That's tough. Think both teams end up in the 20s. Something like 27-24 or 24-20 seems likely. I wouldn't touch it, but if I had to pick I'd probably take the under. Tennessee shutting down Vandy completely is in the cards.

This is my only complaint with Tennessee's staff. I think they're doing a great job overall and hope they all come back next year, but we have playmakers on the roster who aren't getting enough opportunities to make plays. Mike Matthews, Boo Carter, Squirrel White, Dylan Sampson.... we don't see them in space enough, IMO. Screens and comebacks to Thornton and Brazzell makes little sense to me. I can see it with Bru if it's 3rd & 5 because you know he's going to fight for 2 or 3 extra yards but you're not going to get a big play from any of those 3 on a screen or comeback. Carter, Squirrel, and Sampson are much more creative with the ball - and Matthews has shown flashes of wiggle and has been praised by his teammates as being a speedster.

VOLS need to be at Vandy to a pulp to appease the playoffs committee. That being said, VOLS win by one score late in the 4th quarter to stress us all out.

I'm not sure why you're talking to everyone like this today. A person doesn't have to be blindly optimistic to be a "real fan". That's absurd. Vandy has a good team this year. Acknowledging that we'll have to play our best to beat them on their field is rational. Pretending like rational fans are "scared" and "battered" is pretty rude and borderline delusional.

Vols are in "win and you're in" mode with Saturday's game. Style points are a non factor here and unlikely- even with a 42-10 type win that it would move us above the 4 playoff hosts as it stands now- Big10 Champ loser, ND, PennSt, Ga

I just watched the Vandy/LSU game and it was not really close as the score indicates. Vandy scored on the first play of the game and then managed 3 points until 5 minutes were left in the game while LSU moved the ball up and down the field and only punted twice. They were very successful running between the tackles on offense and WRs were open all game. On defense they applied a lot of pressure to Pavia who is really the only offense Vandy has.

Is this really a road game when 2/3rds of the crowd will be in orange? I don’t think this game is a gimme but I also don’t think their crowd is going to have a thing to do with it. It will look like a home game for us.

The cowards thinking Vandy is anything remotely close to a road game for us are something else.
