4.5 is okay for a runningback. The thing that jumps out at me is the shocking lack of speed at DL. How can you possibly compete in the SEC with defensive ends who barely break 5 seconds in the 40?
I think we're going to have 4 defensive linemen drafted, that's impressive.
Neal never showed short burst speed, ie 40 yard dash. He was more of a top end speed runner. Took him too long to really get moving, thats why he was always caught from behind. Also explains why there would be holes for him and he couldn't hit em. Just my observations
40 times:
Alex Bullard - 5.69, 5.72
JR Carr - 5.22, 5.27
Mo Couch - 5.32, 5.33
Dan McCullers - 5.25, 5.37
Raijon Neal - 4.53, 4.58
D. Sapp -4.68, 4.71
J. Smith -4.93
M. Walls -5.07, 5.09
Michael Palardy- 4.64
W. Bohannan- 4.99
Eric Gordon- 4.69, 4.77
H. Lathers- 4.69, 4.89
R. Wilks- 4.77, 4.70
Not really the kid is an athlete.. Dude benches almost 300.
Comparable to Tyler Gaffney out of Stanford. Neal had a great pro day all around besides a kind of weak shuttle. 40 times are hit or miss. Some places mark the time from when they exit the blocks (electronically, like at the NFL combine) then others hand time it, which almost always results in a .1 to .2 time difference.Neal did good at everything besides his 40.
