Chill, Nancy. Nobody expected DL to run as fast as a WR/DB. Sapps time is not bad. Many quality LB's run in the 4.6-4.8 range. Teo is a good example, and there are many in the NFL today who don't run a 4.5.I'm sure this has to be wrong! We have NFL talent and SEC speed on defense according to some on VN.
Yea I never really take 40's that seriously, at least not compared to most others. It's more telling of a player to see what kind of break-away speed they have in actual games.
I've gotten an earfull on here for this same argument. Football isn't played in shorts and t-shirts, and in a straight line which is how the 40 is measured.
Football speed is much different. You can have a 4.6 guy with great instinct and technique play faster than a 4.4 guy . That's why you see a lot of 4.4 guys as returners and not really effective as RB's or WR's.
