UT reaches out to Donnie Jones?

2 Things here...

1)A lot of coaches are going to have their agents saying programs like UT are reaching out to them to try and garner a pay raise.

2)UT has a search firm. Part of their duty is to reach out to a wide range of coaches and gauge interest. Does not mean that the particular coach will be in contention in the end.

Yeah, pretty much a gloomy picture painted by Goodman. Hope he has wrongly assessed the UT situation.

Third: teams is good conferences usually take the best coaches from terrible conferences.

And don't search firms usually like to keep quiet who they are contacting???

According to Jeff Goodman, UT has reached out to Central Florida head coach Donnie Jones. You know, that coach in the terrible conference with the terrible basketball.

@goodmanonfox Tennessee has reached out to VCU's Shaka Smart and Central Florida's Donnie Jones, sources told FOXSports.com - Sources: Tennessee Reaches Out to Shaka Smart, Donnie Jones - Yardbarker

First of all that most likely did not happen. Second of all he would be a LAST resort and I am not even sure that would be true.

If ut hires DJ, a good number of folks have turned them down.

I agree. However, I just had to pimp CUSa for all you haters when you are entertaining his interest in the job.

As for the other tool, you really think Jeff Goodman is writing a column based on rumors and is completely full of ****? Please.

Coaches in the MVC, A-10, and CAA were mentioned beforehand. Feel special.

Haha... as I said over there, dude is going to be a good coach, but has done nothing to merit UT engaging in a bidding war.

How many Tiger fans were ready to cut him loose in Jan?

There is a common thread between both of them: they both were assistants under Billy Donovan. Donnie Jones can recruit really well and could be a very good hire. Shaka is a little less proven but you have to be impressed with what he has down at VCU this year.
