UT/VA Tech @ Bristol?

I live in Blountville, a few miles away, haven't been in the track yet as just moved here a couple months ago but was under the impression that this couldn't happen now due to the tower in the infield.

Again, have no idea, could be 4 football fields around it worth of grass. Just what everyone says up here

it will be interesting to see how much dirt they will have to put in , I have to say i would rather be in Neyland than Bristol for that game,if it is late in the year, will the Christmas lights be up too ? lol

This can't happen. The offer was made before they (Bristol Motor Speedway) put in the score board. It would cost way to much to remove it and bring it back. I will be surprised if it does. I would love to see our Vols kick some butt. Just don't think it is possible to do it at BMS.

Finally! I want another crack at VA Tech. I live in Roanoke and all these Hokie fans think their program is on the same level as UT. They have been competitive the last few years but they do not have the tradition UT has. This feeling of competitiveness is new for them and their fans are the worst. You could fit Lane stadium inside of Neyland. Go Vols destroy Tech. By then we will have a couple recruiting classes by CBJ and we will roll them.

Seems like it would be an awful place to actually watch a game. Wouldn't the field be forever away from the stands? I know Bristol is small, but it isn't football field small.

I however would enjoy hearing about a college game having 160K fans, esp since 75%+ would be in orange

For those saying it's not going to happen...I'm pretty sure both schools would not have scheduled it....come on now think!! Geez!!

#Vols also agreed to home-and-home with Connecticut in 2015 and 2016, too. (h/t to @JamesBenUT)

UT plays a home and home with Oklahoma next year and in 2015. I thought we also had Nebraska scheduled for a home and home in 2016/2017. So we are also going to play Va tech in 2016? I'm actually for it, two good out of conference games would be nice.

The Tennessee Volunteers and Virginia Tech Hokies have agreed to play a football game in 2016 at Bristol Motor Speedway, where a record 160,000 fans could be in attendance, according to a source.

This is an event that had been talked about for years. It is unknown exactly where the playing field will be placed relative to the track and infield, which is composed entirely of asphalt.

The Bristol Motor Speedway location makes it ideal for fans from both teams to get to. It is unknown where on the schedule the game will fit.

This September, Michigan announced a record crowd of 115,109 for its defeat of Notre Dame, breaking a record from 2011, the previous time the teams played at Michigan Stadium

For the record, for those who haven't been there, this is the inside of Bristol Motor Speedway. I'm as excited as anybody right now (from Johnson City so this is close), but I'm not sure where they're going to put the field...

Kickoff classic type game. Wont have to give up a home game...
Plus 10 years ago or longer, Bruton Smith offered each team $20 million,
I wonder what the payoff is now? $25-30 million?
