I'd like to point out also...Rod Delmonico went 9-18, 13-13, and 10-14 (good for 5th in the SEC East) in his first 3 SEC seasons. In his 4th, he went 20-10 in the SEC, good for 1st in the east and won the SEC Championship Tourney.

I remember the 1992 season (I call it 1 PT or Pre Todd)

Had to show well the last weekend at home against the Gators and got shelled. We were out of conference tourney after the Saturday games.

Looking back, that 1992 (the last in the old Lower Hudson Field) was not a good team. There were some good players (Hecker) and Delmonico's talent draw from California was just bearing fruit. That 1993 team was completely different from Day #1.

Hecker was replaced with an even better player in Helton
Our starting pitching was great with Freeman, Heflin, and Harvell and some good arms out of bullpen and midweek.

The defense was outstanding with Parker at SS; Foster at 3B; Northeimer at C and Wyman in the HUGE CF that the park had at that time.

That team should have gone to Omaha but lacked post season experience. It came back largely intact in 1994 with RA replacing Harvell making the starting pitching insane!!!! The 94 team was the best team I think we had and had no business losing to Az. State in regional.

Today was one of the few games I've gotten to watch of Tennessee. This team is extremely young guys. They just need to limit the mistakes, get more experience and they'll be a great team. The future is bright for UT baseball. I was very disappointed, but hey stuff like this happens. You just gotta move on. Dave Serrano has us headed in the right direction, we're just very inexperienced.

Today was also the first time where these guys looked like freshman. That being said. It was a mistake by a non-freshman that lost the game.

We survived the freshmen's mistakes.
