UT WR Speed

It would not appear we've got any true "burners" in the classic sense with this group but we've got some good athletes. Speed is a distant concern with me behind "getting them the ball accurately" and "making the catch".

Thought I saw where North was one of the fastest players on the team. My guess would be North, then Blanc, then Devrin, then Pig.

Pig's the slot man. He just needs to be the toughest and I think he just might be.

The accuracy of published 40 times for recruits varies wildly. Most are hand timed... which means they are also likely skewed.

Just heard Hyams talking about North on 1045 the Zone in Nashville. Described him as similar to Da'Rick and said.....wait for it.... "He doesn't have great speed" .............. Huh? 4.41 isn't great speed?

I know.... consider the source.

Why? IIRC, Blanc was a good track athlete.

At a glance the fastest 100m for North and Blanc I found is 10.99 & 11.03 respectively. Fast but not burners.

To put it in perspective IIRC a 10.99 was also Justin Hunters PR.

Experience and consistency with technique and catching beats speed all day. Jerry Rice was considered to have marginal speed.

Our recievers have the neccessary physical tools time to get them up to speed mentally and with experience.
