Anyone know whats going on with Dave Hart trying to switch the band playing at games to prerecorded music? My twitter feed is blowing up with band members that are saying this. Anyone care to clarify?

If true Hart needs fired now! PSLB is awesome and part of our tradition!

Sounds pretty legit. There is very little argument to the notion that high school and collegiate football players prefer popular music to marching bands

I have been hearing rumors of this for a while now. I'm afraid there's more truth to it than may appear at first glance.

This may be a time where a well-worded email or certified letter might be in order.

I really don't want to be listening to commercials the entire game. Horrible move if true. Also, no band at away games is just ridiculous. It can't actually save that much money.

Doubt this is true. Even know nothings like Dave Hart and Jimmy Cheek know how important our band is.

There's more than a few big time boosters that would swoop in and keep this from happening. Relax everyone.

This is what the players want. They want to wear anything but orange, they don't want the Pride to play in the stands, they want hip hop and rap to pump them up like a new uniform does. They're the ones playing, so it is all about them, and acceptable. There is a bit of sarcasm in this, but I brought up the question in the uniform thread about what would happen if the players didn't want the band or Rocky Top, and people said I was crazy and the uniforms are for one game only. Well, looky here.

They prefer to have sex and get drunk as well. Should we give them that in the locker room at halftime?

There would be a riot in Knoxville and dave hart and jimmy cheek would be thrown out on their ass if this is true

One of my Band friends says it's pretty legit. What a terrible decision and direction for UT football to take.

While Hart was still at Alabama, the recommendation was made to only send a pep band to the National Championship game. It took significant pressure from multiple sources to keep that from happening. When Hart was hired at UT, I made the aside that the same thing would happen here and was told it wouldn't happen.

It's not just happening here. Do you think Georgia just sent a pep band last week instead of the full band as a sign of disrespect?
