UT's chance at March Madness

What a damn joke.

Mizzou has the second most talent outside of Fla and Frank Haith continues to find ways to lose games. Good Lord he sucks balls.

Though to be fair (and not to defend him either) I don't think his plan coming out of the timeout was for Bowers to throw the ball down halfcourt, where there were only white jerseys...i know they lost the lead, but that's exactly where they lost this game tonight

Everybody turn on the Oregon game. Listening to Bill Walton announce is an absolute treat. I can't figure out what the **** he's talking about half the time but it's funny as hell.

Guys on ESPN3 said Lunardi sent a message saying regardless if Ole Miss won or lost they were still in...thoughts?

I heard that, and it didn't make sense to me. I doubt losing by one point means much more to the Committee than losing by 10. If it did, I'd expect the NCAA to start including scoring margin in the RPI.

Haith is a complete buffoon. Mizzou kept settling for the outside shot and that is when Ole Miss made their run.

The fact is there isn't one team in the SEC worth a damn on the road. Fla has the best chance in the dance and they even struggle. The SEC is garbage and it wouldn't surprise me if only 2-3 teams got in. Right now it's probably Fla, Mizzou and now Ole Miss.

Welp boys and girls, it's been an enjoyable season at times, but I think the fat lady is warming up. Been fun talking hoops, but I think there is too much to overcome. Unless Vandy somehow pulls another rabbit out of its hat then I don't see the committee giving the SEC more than 3 bids. It's just a bad league, and in the end, UT was probably one more win away from getting in yet again.

Next year they have to win some games that count in Nov and Dec. If not, it'll be the same song, third verse.

I'm not giving up hope and I still think we will dance.

But man, if we don't, it's going to be tremendously heartbreaking. We were/are RIGHT FREAKING THERE.

So many games this year that, if they go the other way, we're locks right now. It starts with Georgetown. If we just beat Georgia once. If we don't **** the bed today. Now we sit on the very middle of the bubble IMO. About 50/50.

I still can't believe we lost today. We'd been playing so well and then THIS. Like... what?

so if ole miss loses to Vandy it doesn't matter?

Ole Miss tacked on a Top 50 win today.
If they lose to Vandy, it will hurt their RPI, but I think most people have resigned themselves to expecting the NIT at this point.
Anything's possible though. That 2-seed in 2006 was a shocker. Perhaps we'll get sent to Dayton for the First Four.

Obviously, we need to stop waiting until the last five weeks to play well. Regardless of the reasons for the slow starts, it's frustrating to see the team's potential and then fail at the end of the season because of the early holes we keep getting into.

Just like to send a reminder to the committee that Ole Miss lost to Mississippi State two weeks ago.

Yep.
One more win pretty much anywhere might have done it (assuming we get excluded).

I am just so bummed about this. Right now my thoughts about the NIT are to just forfeit it doesn't prove a thing, it only matters to low college teams not SEC teams.

Send it FedEx Sat delivery.

Mizzou choking was a gut punch. Screw you Haith. The SEC isn't getting many bids.

When you don't take care of your own business and leave it in the hands of someone else then you usually wind up being disappointed. Martin better figure that out in the off season.

Now I just want it over. I don't want to get my hopes high at all. The good thing about next year we will have Hubbs coming

Thanks.
I can't speak for Lunardi's pecking order. And, I haven't finished updating my own ranking system. I am working on it now though.

Regarding UK, I think if the Committee ignored the fact that Noel is out and just evaluated their season, then UK would probably get in. They're ranked a little higher than us in the computers and, FWIW, finished ahead of us in the SEC. But, the Committee may focus on UK's post-Noel performance away from Rupp and exclude them. As I type, that became much more likely with Ole Miss going up with one second left.

It doesn't make sense for UK's position, relative to ours, to improve today. But, if they entered today ahead of us, then losing to a worse team than we did probably isn't going to cause us to jump them.

If we get in, and UK doesn't, it's going to be because the Committee focused on their 0-4 away record without Noel, all of which I think came by double digits. Getting drilled by Vandy could be their tipping point, if they were weighing the bad away record against the two quality home wins over UF and Missouri.

We fell further in my own ranking system with our loss than UK did with theirs. Perhaps the RPI worked the same way. That might explain the harsher treatment we received today from Lunardi.
As for why the computers would do this, the amount of rankings you gain or lose after one game is partially affected by how close you are to the teams around you.

Lunardi says Ole Miss. In even if they lost...wtf....he's on drugs

K here's what I don't get...

We were ahead of ole miss going into last game of regular season....since then we beat Missouri, Mississippi State and lost to Bama. They beat LSU, Missouri and if they lose to Vandy are in????

That doesn't add up to me.

Lunardi seems to be more reactionary this year than in year's past.
