UTs offense will be similar to Oregon Offense.

I think our offense will struggle this year because our passing game will struggle. That's putting it politely.Practically all of our skill position players are young and have zero experience--that's a recipe for offensive problems. SEC teams will know this and stack against the run and dare us to throw the ball. We need to develop a dependable /short/ passing game so that we can make some first downs, at the least.

I disagree our O lines and RB will be the best in the country....

We will run it down everyone's throat.

But, with SEC Size and speed, i'm curious to see how good it can be, as UT is traditionally a pro style offense.

Good post. I can go with everything except this allusion. The idea that the current UT has "SEC speed" superior to that of "PAC10 speed" Oregon is flawed. UT may be in a faster conference than the Ducks. But conferences don't play each other.

Oregon's speed looks like the "Roadrunner vs Wile E Coyote" compared to the 2012 Vols. Two of our top CBs ran 4.7 40s at UT pro day. Nothing that happened on the field last year should question those #s.

Translation: The last Oregon team fielded is a lot faster than the last UT team fielded. We aint Bama, LSU, UF, or UGA yet. JMO.

until we get the talent level improved it is not going to make a damn bit of difference. Highly doubt Worley or Peterman are the answer. Maybe Dobbs or Ferguson can get it done.

If the offense isn't set up to showcase the strengths of the projected 1st team offense roster then it's horsecrap. If nothing was learned last season this should have been per the defensive genius that was robbed from Saban. You coach to whats in your pantry, you just don't throw a philosophy out there and expect the roster to absorb and execute.

i think CBJ stated something very similar in an interview awhile back. could be wrong on that.

Tennessee would have to upgrade their speed at RB and WR greatly to be similar to Oregon. Team speed (or lack thereof) has hurt Tennessee for the last 6 years. Doesnt matter how strong, or gutsy you are if your not fast enough to get there to make the play. Got to recruit fast players who play fast.

I'll just contribute this--the Oregon game where we got blasted a few years ago was somewhat similar in style and tempo as to what Butch will want to run. I'm all for that--I've seen a lot of negative opinion on a switch to this type of offense. I disagree--the whole point is that we are set at the line ready to snap the ball then make positive yardage--and run another play..and another---not allowing the opposing defense to get set/lined up properly. The thing that stood out to me with that game was the UT defense NOT even being prepared for the speed and tempo.

Looking at our personnel QB wise you've got to like the diversity in talent and skills. Worley, Peterman--later on Dobbs and Ferguson when they get in...I like the whole quantity over quality approach to recruiting (not to say that Butch isn't going to hit on quality). The fact is with all the roster turn over we've had we need to be consistent system wise and selective in talent...so next guys that graduate there is someone talented to replace them. I'm getting fired up for football.
