UTSA? Lose/Lose Situation?

The only thing I care about is our cornerback’s inability to jump a route and make a play. I’m kind of obsessed with it

Agree to an extent but the OP is right. I hope (and think most everyone else does as well) that Milton lights them up and plays great. So what if he does? Hypothetical but let’s say Joes stats are something like 21/30 290 3 TDs 0 INTs, about 45 rushing yards with a TD or 2. Now I would consider those stats pretty good. Wouldn’t you?

But if that happens, on here you will hear oh big deal it was UTSA. I mean there are people who still try to denigrate Milton’s performance against Clemson because they said Clemson didn’t care. Yet Clemsons high draft picks played. But if Milton plays great it will be no big deal it’s UTSA. If he plays bad, it will be look he can’t even play good against UTSA.

This is a lose/lose scenario for Milton and Heupel for a portion of this fan base.
It’s a lose lose for people that can’t truly see if there is improvement or not. It’s not a lose lose and quite frankly that is stupid accessment by anyone making it.

I'm hoping we build up a good lead and allow Nico some playing time. Or maybe the other back up.

I want to see us play efficiently. We have to minimize the mistakes on those early downs . We suck on 3rd down as an offense and conversely we suck at 3rd downs on defense. We’re getting these 3rd and 6+ yards and we’re not good. We need to be 3 and 3 or better. Those are simple things that actually will go a long way to making us more efficient and give the offense more confidence .

UTSA got beat by ARMY who has a bunch of 2-star players that play as a team. VOLS should blow them out. South Carolina gave UGA a good game so we could use some positive momentum this week.

This game will not be a blow out. I was just looking at the "pick the score" posts and there's a LOT of VolNation who agree.

The next game is basically a live scrimmage and dress rehearsal for USCJr.

They will come in confident and motivated from last years win and emboldened from Tennessee’s poor showing at UF.

And haven't we already had just about enough embarrassment this year?
A week ago, I would have thought that it's an intra state game that Tenn wins and UTSA get great benefit from because they split up concessions, ticket profits (maybe) and that were other benefits to both teams but NOW? Now I'm a little concerned because if I were the coaches of UTSA, I'd have been preparing for this game since this past summer, because to UTSA, it is by FAR, THEEEEEE most important game on their schedule and it's not even close.

I probably shouldn't have used the word embarrassing, but games like this are dangerous. In the hate fest that is UGA vs GA Tech, Tech makes it tough on UGA for SOME amount of time because UGA is THE most imporant game on their schedule. UGA doesn't GA Tech's massive effort lightly. Just like any other pair of teams long, long time, emotionally charged (hate?) rivalry. I just like the term hate fest because it implies that the lesser school would probably be better served focusing one game at a time, but they know where they fit in the big picture of football and want to topple a highly ranked team they don't like.

UTSA is that team to UT. UT is preparing for them for 5 days, UtSA has been preparing for at least a month haha. David? Meet Goliath.

The Roadrunners need to look at the Austin Peay game and run some of the pre snap motion. Also, the coach needs to do an 8 ball before the game starts so he looks like a mixture of the Macho Man and the Ultimate Warrior on the sidelines.

I don't think it will be a trap game since we lost to Florida. We should be focused on getting back to winning.

If it's a loss, then there's bigger issues than just the outcome of the game.
I would buy the “we’re 100% gonna be focused” argument if AP hadn't happened the week prior to the egg we laid at Florida. Now I’m not so sure.

A two loss UTSA is coming into Neyland on Saturday. They’re not a powerhouse team. If the Vols win and blow them out of the stadium, it’s a “who cares” win or worse, the team gets the false impression that some serious problems have been fixed, leaving the Vols rolling into the South Carolina game still a mess and setting them up for a beating.

Even worse case scenario, the Vols were to come out flat and lose to UTSA, that would be a disaster.

The UTSA game could be a potential trap game and a lose-lose situation for this team’s mental toughness and SEC readiness.

I like Coach Heupel and I’ve been pleased with the progress of this team since he took over, unfortunately this year we seem to have taken a step back. I still think he is the right guy (although that timeout with 9 seconds to go made ZERO sense). I truly hope that Coach Heupel gets the kinks ironed out. This does not look like a disciplined, driven football team.
I see it different. I see this years team as a step forward overall. Last years team, was an huge step ahead of expectations so it has thrown this years team into limbo. I don’t see a step back but I do see how last years hugely successful year muddies the water of what this team will/should be.

Who schedules the non conference games?

Does Heupel do his own scheduling like Barnes, Harper and Vitello do?

I heard they got pushed around by Army last week. Well i don't know, Army is tough to prepare for and right now our offense has 3 plays they run and the defense looked charmin soft in the first half. Who really knows. I don't think Tennessee is a very good team right now. Players or coaching so no telling what could happen. Are they better than Austin Peay is what you should be asking.
Texas San Antonio's starting quarterback did not play last week against Army.
