Name one time they’ve been a legitimate national title contender since joining the league.. the only year they won the East, Georgia went 6-6 and Tennessee/Florida had 1st year head coaches.

The other year they were kinda close, they lost by 11 to an 8 win Georgia team and lost to Butch Jones in his 1st year. Not to mention if by some miracle they had made the national title, that FSU team would’ve destroyed them,

They were kinda close in 2013. Finished 11-2 and had a final ranking of #4. They lost the east to Missouri because of us. That Marquez North catch haunts them.

They went 11-2 in three straight years with a top 10 finish in each year and one of them was a top 5 finish.... I'm not saying they will ever have a coach as good as Spurrier, but he proved it can be done.

Generally, he is correct. Maybe "unwinnable" is wrong and can be up for interpretation. They had an all-time great coach who decided to try the pro game and was ready to get back into college. Sounds familiar (Nick Saban). It's not a destination job, and it will most likely be a long time before they have back to back 11 win seasons again.

Obviously, we have been wandering in the wilderness for a bit. But if UF, UGA, UT, and Clemson are what they are supposed to be, then USCe is middle of the road.

Yeah it honestly was a perfect storm. All of the annual rivals were going through transition including Clemson and state talent was the highest it’s ever been (Clowney, Lattimore, etc).

Absolutely.
That state always has hidden talent or just outright bluechips.
Then their 5 hour radius is the exact same as ours in a lot of ways.
Keep home the studs ( Lattimore, Gilmore, Clowney) Get a little help from GA, NC,and FLA and create an exciting culture to come into.

It still baffles me that Clemson didn't go after Jaylin Hyatt. But they recruited his HS QB to play WR this past class!

Just talked to his dad again...

So, pops said its up in the air and he's not persuading him either way. In a nutshell, SC is telling Karon everything he wants to hear. I think he wants to hear that he will be a lock to start and pretty much have his pick of where he wants to play on the field. Tennessee is being more honest.

This is a much different tone than our conversation after his visit last week. Sure 2 hours of travel is also playing into his decision, mostly with mom. But for the most part it appears the kid wants an easier path to immediate play time. SC is saying you can have what you want, Tennessee is saying you will have to work for everything you get.

It's 50/50. It almost sounded like dad was frustrated with Karon. He wants him to go to not take the path of least resistance because that's what happened at Kansas.

My very honest opinion is that we need kids who are willing to work. Not saying he isn't, but part of that isn't being afraid of competition. My gut says SC after talking to dad a minute ago. Very different feeling from a week ago.
