'24 VA RB Peyton Lewis (Tennessee)

Yeah. Seem to remember Small was part of a package deal to recruit another player. He was a solid rb for us possibly would’ve been better if not for the shoulder issues. Bishop could be one of those surprise guys that turn out to be a great rb.
Allz I’m saying…no guarantees.

K. Read the same declarations about Jeremy Banks after he was switched to LB. Whatever one thought of him, he did some MEANINGFUL SNAPS. My opinion is based on him receiving a needed rest after being a heavy workhorse in high school. He’s every bit as good (or better) than Small…and he took hella MEANINGFUL SNAPS.
Took a lot of heat last year when I was the lead guy campaigning for the staff to find a way to get Bishop here as the slots narrowed down, so not claiming any impartiality here, but my hopes for him are NOW based on the positive vibes he was getting from his position coach at the time of his injury, EVEN in a crowded room.

Not sure what his on campus 40 times were or conditioning measurable strides, but he demonstrated a toughness and a lot of those intangibles that make backs productive. Avoding TFLs, always getting the extra yard, and protecting himself after getting big or needed yardage and heading back to the huddle. Always seemed to take the best line at the best time. I would think he would fill the Small slot if he moves on. So I am hoping I get to double down after spring.

I thought he was a quality PWO pickup and then found out he came in with a scholarship. I didn’t have high expectations, but I remember those glowing reports and it really seemed he belongs.

We have a great room of young guys. How many yards/ tds/ snaps did that group have outside of Sampson? We might be more than good or even great. Sampson is proven, nobody else is. They’re likely not sniffing for a rb in the portal. But if there is an absolute stud like judkins, for example purposes only, would you want him?
Nah.
RBs haven't been our problem.

Still aren't a problem.

Peyton Lewis (Salem): 24 for 87 yards and 1 TD in Virginia's class 4 state championship game vs. Phoebus.

Unfortunately for Lewis, Salem lost 21-14 when Phoebus scored on an 86 yard TD pass with :01 left.

Nothing to be ashamed of for Lewis and crew,

Phoebus was averaging 50+ points and had i think 10 shutouts!
10 teams didn't even score on them....that's damn insane.
They were undefeated. Salem played them tough! Real tough.
Salem plays everyone tough almost always in the state championship game
