This UK team sort of reminds me of the 1983 team. They came out of no where since the 1982 team was 0-10-1. They were 6-4-1 going into the Hall of Fame Bowl with West Virginia which they lost 20-16.

I would take it, Dave. You're bringing back good memories. They had a smart QB in Ransdell and a pretty good RB in George Adams. IIRC the next year they beat Wisconsin in the same bowl.

I think Randy Jenkins was the quarterback most of the 1983 season.

I hate UK in basketball, but damn if I don't want you guys to be decent again in football.

Some of the best UT games in recent memory were against the tough UK squads of the mid 2000s. Hell, even the 2010 game was pretty good.

Plus, we need another SEC East to beat Vandy's brains in on a regular basis.

Quite correct! Ransdell played in mop-up that year. Jenkins was the last UK QB who won at Neyland, IIRC. He was also a punter who was just crazy enough to run the ball from punt formation.

I remember the 17-12 loss to UK in 1984. UT had the ball at the UK 3 as time ran out. If UT won that game(finishing 8-2-1) they would have played 12-0 National Champion BYU in the Holiday Bowl

I'm sort of with you, I was born in Lexington but grew up in Texas and Tennessee...I love UK basketball but I'm more of a football fan becuase I grew up loving football more than basketball. I go to Rupp and I get crazy but for some reason I just would rather be at a football game than a basketball game...I enjoy those wins more (I suppose becuase there are so few of them).

Being a UK basketball fan is sort of tiring because everyone always gives you s*it about it when really you loved them when they sucked it's just that they're good now.

Here's a similar Vandy team to this season's team. The 1-10 1979 Vanderbilt team

L 44-13 to Indiana
L 27-14 to The Citadel
L 66-3 to Alabama
L 42-14 to Tulane
L 56-35 to Auburn
L 31-10 to Georgia
L 63-28 to Ole Miss
W 13-3 over Memphis
L 29-10 to Kentucky
L 30-29 to Air Force
L 31-10 to Tennessee

Had to suck to be Memphis fan that year.

Well that and every other year ever.

I'm actually pulling for Vandy. I would like for them to build up at least some glimmer of hope going into their game against us. At that point, we rip their heart out. (figuratively speaking)

Wth lol. No, I want UK, ut, and every team to crush Vandy and remind them just how bad they are.

If you’ve liveblogged a UK/Vandy football game in the past few years, you’ve heard us make fun of Vandy’s fog horn. It’s actually called “The Admiral,” but I can neither refer to it as that or hear it without laughing. After each touchdown or big play, the sound the horn, which sounds roughly like this: HEEEEEEEEEEEEERNH. It’s hilarious!

Lol
