The fact that they're likely looking at making (or at the very least almost making) a bowl game there of all places seems to indicate he's doing pretty well (as someone else put it, playing everyone - even ranked teams close - is a pretty big deal for them)

is about the same.

they are better in the front seven on defense. worse in the back 4.

still have midgets for tailbacks. no qb. no wr production. the offensive line isn't any good unless they are up against a completely outmanned opponent.

The point is TN has better players than Vandy. They were horrible the last two years, they had a terrible recruiting class again last year and they are this close or better then TN. There is a clear issue in my mind. Can it change, sure. Right now you have to be blind not to see it.

So what.. Dooley almost beat LSU and UNC last year and Kiffin almost beat the Nat'l champion team the year before. There is no real comparative value in that argument.

We lost to Georgia by one score. Didn't play well, though.

If Palardy makes the kick early on against UF, that last drive is to win the game.

And if we scored more than Bama we would've won. What's your point? The games were played and they played both closer. Nothing you say changes these facts.

there are more ways to judge how competitive a game was played beyond the final score.

tennessee was soundly beaten by florida and georgia.

i'll use an example from just last week. georgia beat florida 24-20. the score was not reflective of the game as florida could barely get a first down in the second half.

They didn't play Bama closer, that game wasn't even competitive. One of the only times this year though you can say that.

I don't think he's outstanding. I think he's better than Dooley. Dooley is going to end the year within a win of Vandy with better players and in two years having beaten no one in the SEC outside of Vandy and UK. We are depleted but everyone in the East this year was beatable.

Respectively disagree. We are talking about Vandy that has been 2-10 the last 2 years. TN had players, not depth, but they do and have some players that were highly wanted in this league. Only till recently did Vandy have some committs that a tangible amount of SEC teams wanted.

That is my ultimate point. Franklin looks like he can coach really well, based on what he has to work with. You can say Vandy is equal in talent to TN, but I do not believe that based on the evaluation and facts on the players. We lost Bray, we lost Hunter, we lost Jackson. Vandy never had players like this. I will grant you they have a better running back

i think some of you are missing the point.

if vandy goes 6-6 and florida goes 6-6, which school achieved more during the year based on what is expected from the program and what the realistic goals are.

the same is true from game to game.

if vandy loses to georgia by 5, that's a hell of a job because vandy doesn't have the talent to stay on the field with georgia.
