I love how the teams from Tennessee play tougher OOC schedules than most of the SEC. I don't think Georgia even has a plane.

It's funny looking at Georgia's schedules to see when the last time they played out of conference more than 100 miles from Athens. They haven't been further than Atlanta, GA or Clemson, SC since 1965!???

I read today that Arkansas and Texas are going to renew their rivalry. There's even talk of them playing every year in Dallas if OU-Texas starts being contested on campus.

The Southwest Conference seems like it was a lifetime ago. If only half the teams hadn't used the NCAA rule book as toilet paper . . .

That's almost despicable

Sweet deal. That will be fun to watch.

That's crazy. Why is that?

I dunno. I'm flipping through CFBDataWarehouse.com's records, and in '66 they played at VMI. They played at Michigan in '65.

I figured I'm bored so I'll make a list of non-conference games UGA has left the south for in the last 50 years. For arguments sake, I'll say Kentucky, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida constitute the south.

1957 - at Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) L
1958 - at Texas (Austin, TX) L
1960 - at Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) L
1965 - at Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) W
1967 - at Houston (Houston, TX) L

Before that they were pretty good about it. Lots of games at Yale and NYU, and various other Ivy League schools.

no not really, and for the most part, playing devil's advocate here, they don't have too.

the play Ga Tech every year, and it's non confrence, and it has importance because it helps them in recruiting in state talent, esp around the ATL area....they play Auburn every year, also helping them in state and USC every year now, which helps them in state and in SC....plus playing UF, and TN every year, their conf. schedule isn't terrible. and they also have the on again, off again rivalry with Clemson...

that said, they need to get some games in other parts of the country...they'd be an instant draw and it'd be good for TV to see UGA/ND or UGA/UCLA or UGA/UW or UGA/TXA&M etc....

keep playing the buffalos of the world, and it'll come back to haunt you, especially when most of the rest of the SEC is playing those teams...ARK/USC and TX....TN/CAL and ND...AUB/USC....LSU/Va Tech and ASU...bama/OK

and vandy/mich...wow.

No sweat. The OSU Buckeyes will mop up the Wolverines once again, other words, business as usual.Financially speaking, Vanderbilt made a good deal.

Probably. The teams at the bottom of the SEC (Vandy, Kentucky, the Mississippi schools) are at about the same level as lower/mid C-USA schools.

What about the Lil' 11, aka big 10, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, Michigan State................

When I lived in Lexington, Kentucky, UK fans would always argue for Kentucky football joining the Lil'11 because Kentucky would then be able to compete in football.....................

I love UK fans.......

Great website, Milo. Is it any surprise that UGA doesn't play anyone?

college football datawarehouse is one of my favorite websites. Tons of cool information. I bet many people didn't know that Vanderbilt beat Ohio State at the Shoe once.

Georgia does go to Arizona State in 2008 and Colorado in 2010.

I guess they'll have to leave on a Tuesday morning to get there.

If Georgia would go back to playing Clemson every year, I'd give them a pass on never traveling. Georgia Tech and Clemson are much tougher nonconference games than many in the SEC schedule.

That would be good. I'm sure the Georgia/Clemson game in the early 80's was great. I hope Arkansas and Texas can get things going again.

They've already signed up for some games. The debate now is whether or not they'll play in Dallas annually if OU-Texas move their game on campus. As an aside, most everyone on the board knows OU is my second favorite team. I attended the OU-Texas game in '04. It would be a shame if they leave Dallas.

I hope the Red River Shootout remains, too. I've never been, but I've heard stories about the carnival and watch the games on tv. Why can't Arkansas and Texas play home and away?

I saw something interesting the other night. I was watching the "downpour" game against Florida from 1992, and because of the weather, the tv crew briefly went to another game for a minute or two. Guess who was playing? Oklahoma and USC. It wasn't a great year for either of those 2 teams, if I remember correctly.

That was during a ten year period of OU football that I've tried to erase from my memory. Arkansas and Texas are scheduled to play home and away. The idea of playing in Dallas only becomes relevant if OU-Texas gets moved. I'm sure the Dallas Chamber of Commerce would throw some serious money at the schools. Losing OU-Texas would be a jolt to the local economy.
