I realize we had our fair share of crazy moments and comments as we went through our multiple transitions. However, I also remember EVERY other fanbase laughing and mocking us at the same time. Well, the tables have turned.

My goal for this thread would be for people to post crazy things they hear/read that Vandy fans say and actually believe. I'll start.

"Why would he go to Penn St, it's a lateral move"
"We should hire Mack Brown"

I can't wait to hear some more.

Ok, here it goes.

"I'm certain that this round of coaching recruitment will be looking for a guy who's not making this a stepping stone. We're better than that now and can attract the hottest names in coaching." -Vandymania

They can't even fill their 40,000+ seat stadium when they are winning. Why would a "hottest name in coaching" see it as anything other than a stepping stone?

Personally I just enjoy all of the blind love and loyalty posts too. "He won't leave, because he said he was committed to us." "He promised the players 5 years, and wouldn't break that".

Basically the roller coaster they've all shown.

Started out almost laughing at the notion that he'd leave for PSU; the extreme naive reactions of how Franklin would stay because of all the crap he'd said about "settling", and how he'd never leave for some "football factory" after deriding them. (I guess these guys forgot about Gordon Gee, who pretty much did the same thing).

Then the complete 180 many of them have done when it became clear that at the least, there was a good chance it would happen. Suddenly, they don't understand why PSU would want someone who had a rape scandal on his watch, to good riddance and that he was a snake oil salesman. I especially love the fans with the grade school level comebacks of how they PSU "got what they deserved" with Franklin.

It's just comedy gold at this point. And yes I know

Let me think about this, Penn State or Candybilt, Penn State or Candybilt, Penn State or Candybilt ... What has the best future? Best probability for success? Better fan base? Better facilities? More money? Ability to attract recruits? Boy, Franklin has a tough decision here!

Somebody actually called in the Wake Up Zone here in Nashville and said that. It was absolutely histerical that he was being DEAD SERIOUS. He even tried to use stats and "evidence" to back it up. At least he was basically laughed at after he hung up. :eek:lol:

BREAKING: Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, Jimbo Fisher and Jon Gruden are the leading candidates to become Vanderbilt's new head coach.

Yeah sounds realistic

As I mentioned in the above post their idiocy starts with their AD the flows down to their fans.

David Williams was asked yesterday when he plans to see James Franklin again face to face. His response was "well, I dont know. He's on vaction" and he didnt know when he'd get back. So you're the boss of this guy and you dont know when he'll be back in the office again?? Every boss in this country knows when their employee goes on vacation and when they return. Or at least every competent boss.

He was then asked if he had a list of candidates in his drawer ready to be called in the event he did leave. His reply was "I'll tell you like I've told everybody else. Would you go to your wife and tell her that in the event she was gone you have a list of 3 potentials to take her place?" That's his analogy- a wife to a coach. There's alot of things I'd like to stick in my wife's mouth or even her replacement's mouth but there's nothing I want to put into my same sex co workers mouth. Every boss has a list in their desk drawer of who to call in the event one of their employees left. That's management 101. At least that's what competent bosses do.

He has some real gems sometimes. I cant believe they keep him.

What he did for the program was make it appealing enough to a coach like that to come to Vanderbilt. ItÂ’s priceless, and I thank him for that, but if Penn State is his dream job then good luck to him. Vanderbilt is more than James Franklin, now.

Oh yes, the calls to the Midday 180 and 3HL yesterday were priceless. People calling in asking why he would leave to go to PSU when "Vandy is a better job"....thankfully those callers got roasted. Well on 180 at least.

After claiming for the past 6 months that CJF was not involved in any way in the rape.

"PSU won't hire him because of the rape scandal."

What what? I thought he wasn't involved?

That one is the best to me. Suddenly that's some big issue, but apparently ONLY in regards to PSU hiring him. I can only guess they mean if PSU didn't take him, they'd still keep him and suddenly he's back to not being involved.
