I don't think that what Vegas thinks has a good or bad influence on how we play on the field on 8/31.

True, but they are more right than they are wrong. Odds makers and professional gamblers are more independent than rose colored glasses fans. Their picks are to make money not national prominence.

The over/under on wins is at 5.5. That line isnt there because they hate us.

So tired of having this conversation over and over on different threads.

Our receivers are gonna kill Utah State. After the 1st quarter, this game wont even be close. I'm thinking something like 45-14 with most of their points being garbage at the end.

Malone, Pearson, and the almighty North are going to destroy. Then you still have to deal with Pig, Croom, the new TE's that ppl keep forgetting. Combined with a good running attack from Lane-Hurd.

Our line will struggle in some games this year but Utah friggin state will not be a game that they have any problems with.

And our defense will give up some plays, it's gonna happen, especially early, but they will get so far behind so quick that we will be able to rush 4 and defend the pass for most of the game.

We did this (oh, we might lose, I dont know) crap the past few seasons with NC State, and even worse WKU, and we have the makings of a better team... In two weeks, you guys will all be talking about how Oklahoma better look out. hahaha

We go through this every year. Because we lost virtually all our close sec games against Rivals last year...some people decide a team like Utah state is going to come in here and kick out asses. Just one problem, Utah state isn't an sec rival. We will drill them. Just like we did wku last year and NC state the year before.

But that is also why Vegas sets the lines as they did, to get people betting on the game even if its the team that's going to loose, they can cover that way as the bids come in from Tennessee.

6.5 is actually a very big line. If Vegas though the teams were equal it would be a pick em. If they thought we were slightly better it would be a 2/3 point spread. For it to be a td they expect us to be the much better team

It will be about 80 degrees at kickoff and falling to the low 70's. The heat won't be an issue. Not sure about the humidity.

Usually if it's a push, Vegas will make the home team a 2-3 point favorite just because of the home field advantage

I don't gamble.

If I did, I would look at this game just as I have.

Show respect for what USU has done and why/how.

Look at player losses and replacements.

Look at size and athleticism.

Look at the coaching match up and style match up.

Look at the key position match ups.


... and UT still should win by 17+ points.

That has nothing to do with my post. I am inferring that USU looks dangerous to cover. I didn't say anything about a money line win although that's possible too. Also the line is set based on perception to induce bets and not what they think will actually happen. Vegas is getting their 70%+ on UT and STILL moved the line towards USU. As a bettor that's a red flag, forget the homer feelings about who wins.

If you are a novice at betting, then let me offer a couple of tips. If you're betting fun money, then throw these tips out and enjoy having $s on the line. If you're betting mortgage type money and up place your bets closer to game time like the pros do. Star players get hurt in practices and have all sorts of unforeseen reasons why they cannot be available for a game, same for coaches and staffs, some staffs are not exactly transparent about team injuries, when it comes to betting serious money information is power. Place bets legally or with people you know, lots of money flows one way and its hard to get your winnings back sometime Good luck!

For he most part, early in the season, Vegas is alot like us....guessing. Once they get about 3-4 games into the season, its a tough business to beat them regularly

I've used Bovada (formerly Bodog) for at least seven or eight years. No problems or issues. If I'm doing well (which happens all to rarely) and my account gets above a certain amount, I cash out and have them FedEx me a check----all very smoothly done.

So many ways to get burned by the spread. All sorts of things that are insignificant to the game results happen in trash time that cause people to lose money. Which is why I am happy just enjoying the game.

Only 2-3 days. Very reputable company, IMO and based on my experience. Not plugging them or anything...it's just I started out with them--about 2005-- and have never been given a reason to switch to anyone else. (Also, their web site is extremely easy to use...things like that are always a plus for me.)

Yeah i used their site, even the mobile site. I was just never up enough to need the check. I may do it again this year.
