Marco Rubio Explains Exactly The Extent To Which The US Is Involved In Venezuela

Venezuela teeters on the verge of what could be a dangerous or, God willing, peaceful regime change. And while the U.S. has been vocal in support of the interim President Juan Guaido (a title he can legally claim under that country’s constitution in light of what even the New York Times admitted last May was Nicolas Maduro’s retention of the title by way of a sham election), there are some stateside legislators who seem to believe the U.S. is helping the process along by being more than simply cheerleaders.

Hezbollah Is in Venezuela to Stay

Some security policy analysts seemed surprised by Pompeo’s claims, but they shouldn’t be. Hezbollah has long maintained a presence in Latin America, especially in the infamous Tri-Border Area, a semi-lawless region where Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil converge. But even beyond the Tri-Border Area, Hezbollah is well-entrenched in Venezuela, where the Shiite terrorist group has long worked to establish a vast infrastructure for its criminal activities, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and illicit smuggling. For example, Margarita Island, located off the coast of Venezuela, is a well-known criminal hotbed where Hezbollah members have established a safe haven. Under the regime of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the government took a more active approach to offering sanctuary to Venezuela-based supporters of Hezbollah.

Oh yeah, I bet they were surprised.

Massive Embezzlement Scandal Threatens Juan Guaido's Political Future

The political party of Juan Guaido - Voluntad Popular (Popular Will) - was never all that popular to begin with.
The sixth largest political party in Venezuela, Popular Will is heavily financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Now, a recently exposed embezzlement scandal in Colombia risks to further alienate the party from the Venezuelan people.

Thats a frigate. A frigate. Like, we dont even name those in American papers. We say " the Eisenhower carrier, and a carrier battle group/flotilla." Which is a dozen or more ships, including frigates and A.B. destroyers. Their carrier is indefinitely parked because it was too embarrassing getting towed into ports all the time. China has made strides catching up to us militarily, and Russia has strength in some spots , but our Navy is miles stronger than anyone elses. Miles. We have more carriers than the rest of the world combined I believe. Piss ant countries like Sri Lanka might find a frigate impressive, we would never even send a frigate out as the main ship in a combat group. That is a support ship in the US...they are capable, but nothing to write home about. I think every American should see a US carrier in person...it is the only way to appreciate the scale. There are more people on a carrier than my hometown...

That is still something I need, and would love, to do.

Well, maybe this will slow down the Venezuela rhetoric for a minute while they start cooking in Iran...

'Frustrated' Trump Sours On Venezuela Regime Change After Bolton 'Got Played'

A frustrated Trump believed that national security adviser John Bolton and his director for Latin American policy, Mauricio Claver-Carone, “got played” by both the opposition and key Maduro officials, two senior administration officials said. As the president “chewed out the staff” in a meeting shortly after the April 30 failure, in the words of one former Trump official involved in Venezuela policy, he mused that he might need to get on the phone himself to get something done. -WaPo

Those are by far my favorite Soviet aircraft. I bet we didnt even scramble fighters to intercept. Being in intl airspace. Rest assured we arent worried about venezuelan air power, or really anyone else for that matter. China is working hard to build a navy that can rival ours, Russia has more nukes than us ( mutually assured destruction makes this not matter) but the US is in a class of it's own in the skies. Better tech, better pilots, better capabilities.

So the DoD is calling out Russia for basically arming someone in the Caribbean. But POTUS is tweeting about nonsense.

What is wrong with this picture?
