So who should we believe... Maduro or the US media and govt?
Both sides pointing fingers and neither is trustworthy.
This article gives a good account of what happened. It's not opinion as Ras thinks.
Guaidó, Not Maduro, Is the De Jure President of Venezuela
You have to forgive RAS. He has yet to meet a despot he doesn’t love. This guy complains about US media but constantly posts articles from RT. Literally state run media. Convinced that Assad was democratically elected. Tries to argue that Maduro is legitimate, until GV bitch slapped him, and all we do is bad.You don't have to believe either. Try Diego A. Zambrano (an assistant professor of law at Stanford Law School and originally from Venezuela)
Or read the constitution yourself.
Justia Venezuela :: Constitución de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela :: Ley de Venezuela
How did I move the goal posts? I'm not the one that said we need to uphold the Venezuelan Constitution. Most of you all are saying that. That is how you all responded to my original comment about the Vienna Convention.
Don't put words or arguments in my mouth.
Why is that necessary?
And for your information, Venezuela isn't the only iron we would have in the fire right now. At what point is enough enough? At what point do we spread ourselves too thin? And at what cost?
I completely understand how we "support" countries or factions. I frankly think we need to use the time and resources tending to our own needs here at home at not concern ourselves with what some banana republic does. Are you just being intentionally obtuse or are you not grasping the multi layered meaning of "support?"
I know you think we exist in a pre-WWI world where isolationism sort of worked based on two large oceans and very few internal combustion engines but going back to before 1823 is nuts, even for you.I completely understand how we "support" countries or factions. I frankly think we need to use the time and resources tending to our own needs here at home at not concern ourselves with what some banana republic does.
