I hadn't thought of this until someone brought it to my attention...

Tennessee Since 2002
2002 8-5
2003 10-3
2004 10-3
2005 5-6
2006 7-3

Record: 40-20 (.667)

Here's the problem: that represents an entire cycle of Tennessee Football. Unfortunately, 2006 isn't shaping up much better.

like was said earlier.. a loss for every two wins isn't Tennessee Football, it's Minnesota football

2002 Peach
2003 Peach
2004 Cotton
2005 NO BOWL

...with a trip back to the Peach in the offing again. We're basically where Georgia's program was under Jim Donnan.

I didn't know that Donnan and Zook took a team to the SEC Championship Game?

We tied for the East in 2003, and won the East in 2004. I know the records are unacceptable, but we have won some things during that time period.

That's it. Create fictitious championships for TCHFCATUTK to brag about.

After losing to LSU in the 2001 SEC championship, Fulmer soundly rejected the idea of giving out SEC East Champs rings. He said that at Tennessee the only thing that mattered was conference championships, not divisional championships. Three years later after losing to Auburn in the 2004 SEC championship, Fulmer passed out SEC East Champ rings. Seems like the coaches and a lot of the fans are happy with divisional wins these days.

I think it is unfair to compare the Zook/Donnan years to what UT is now going through. Yes, the winning percentages may be in the same ball park but at least Georgia and Florida had the gumption to go out and get Richt and Meyer. They took a little risk and pissed off a few of the boot lickers but in the end they did what they had to do to get back on top. Too bad I cannot say the same for the Vols. :cray:

Sorry hat, i was just laughing at the comparison to Zook and to a certain extent Donnan. Zook's best season was 7-4. He had back-to-back 5 loss seasons.

Donnan is a bit closer.... but not quite as good.... he won 40 games in his 5 seasons at Georgia (avg of 8 wins per season) The Dawgs did finish 10-2 in 1997 and 9-3 in 1998. He had one 5-6 finish and back-to-back 8-4 seasons.

So does Fulmer. After this year he won't, but currently Fulmer has an actual SEC Championship in the last 8 years.
Tennessee's already mathematically eliminated. This season is essentially in the books. It's just a matter now of if it becomes another embarassment or not.

If I thought all we could expect for the next 5 years is Peach Bowls, I would be in favor of a new HC.

But there has been enough improvement in some key areas like QB and WR to keep the current staff in tact.

If you give Cutcliffe enough time he can develop a good QB.

Who else improved besides the 2 positions you mention above?

Really good logic, considering all the productive WRs will be gone after this season and replaced by a group of guys who have shown no ability to make plays against quality opponents. However, Lucas Taylor has proven he can fumble punts.

Well, I haven't heard any good arguments to make me believe Trooper isn't a good coach and won't make the most of what available talent UT has. No one expected the WR's to be as good as they are this year. I think he deserves some credit for that.

Cutcliffe is a good QB coach, enough said.

Brooks and Chavis have had outstanding DL's and LB's groups in the past. I think they will continue to in the future, granted this year they are disappointing.

If you want to fire, Slade, Roper, Adkins or any of the rest of them I don't have a problem. But there are some quality coaches on the staff.
