I never ever bet on the Vols in any sport but I do feel a little tugging to bet on them. I think I just want them to win so bad. I really do hate Georgia more than any other team. I do think we have a great chance to beat them! A few pick sixes I would bet on! Go Vols!
There is no “fix.” We have struggled badly against Georgia every year that Heupel has been here, we are a bad team on the road, and our offense has struggled mightily in SEC play, even at home against teams with losing records. 10 points is about right based on those factors. It would be by far the best effort we have had against Georgia since we went into halftime with the lead in 2020. We can win, but it will take the best offensive road effort we have seen under Heupel without Hooker at QB.Most of the "experts" are speaking like it just a formality. That this game is in the bag for Georgia. We are huge underdogs. -10 points to a team that is ranked below us? Makes me wonder if the "fix" is in for this game. I personally feel pretty good about this one but I don't think I've ever heard as much talk about what comes next for Georgia after they win today. I hope we stomp a mud hole in them.
This made me think; the defense plays with violent intentions, now to get that mindset in the offenses mind. It’s simple really when you put aside your love for the Vols. This team appears to be a “paper tiger”. Heupel can fortify his place in Vol lore if he can have this team play with violent intentions.
Look, we've not looked so great offensively all year long. We are what we are at this point. Nico is coming off a concussion as is Thornton. It's a road game and UT doesn't do so well on the road. AND it's vs Kirby who's had Heupel's number. Athens has not been kind to UT and UGA is playing for their playoff lives. We're headed into a hornets nest and everyone knows it whether they choose to admit it or not. We put up a stinker every year it seems. Got Arky so far, but I suspect UGA will be another. We aren't in their league as a roster yet. Hey, even with a loss, this team has already met my expectations for this season. Everything from here on out is gravy. We simply aren't playoff caliber on offense. Still proud of 'em.Most of the "experts" are speaking like it just a formality. That this game is in the bag for Georgia. Kirby has always played us well, when they had all 5 star players, with 5 star backups. Last time, our secondary sucked. 3 or 4 were out from a secondary that wasn't good before.Heupel has faced Smart 3 times and Smart knows how to defense this system. I look for this to be much like the Arkansas game where our offense is throttled. Our only hope is defensive turnovers and scores.
Well, I'm no pundit...but I'll continue my NOT posting during the game. I'm a jinx for those who don't know. For all you football purists, stay away from the game thread. Every 2rd post now will be
about the officials conspiring against the Vols and how the refs are screwing the team, etc.
Refs never throw flags for the Dawgs holding, they are reserved for the Vols. Vols are the
only team that is called for PI and for roughing the passer, and unsportsmanlike., etc. Here we go .......
Good and honest rundown imo. The one point I would explore just a bit further is our vulnerability up the middle against State. With UGA missing their lead rusher, I’m not sure it will be the same concern tonight, but that’s speculation, we won’t know that until the game plays out. If they’re unable to establish a run game and Beck is forced into hurries, I like that scenario.I agree with you. Perfect description of this unusual version of a Vol team. It almost seems to be a team still searching for its identity. Close to getting on track for explosive offense but then strange fumbles, missed blocks, and 3 runs up the middle of a stacked box. And an over-performing defense that suddenly gets gashed up the middle by Miss St last week.
And strangely, Georgia appears to be searching for its "true self" as well. Given the high stakes and given the usual hyped up performance of a Georgia team when you get its attention, I could see a big number win for the dogs. But I honestly don't have a feel for this one. First quarter is just huge for whichever team can get going offensively......if one of them can. It will be worth watching for sure.
