Vescovi practices with Vols video

The video was less than impressive imo. I was disappointed Plasvic didn't dunk every time. Those little bunnies off the glass will get rejected fast and he better be able to jump higher than what I saw in the video.

Barnes should be holding open tryouts for the remainder of the season. When I was at UT we needed a PG and I was arguably the best PG on campus but Buzz Peterson never responded to any of my letters or phone calls. Not good!

The drill was not designed for dunking. It takes to much time. Its get shot up rebound and get Down the floor and repeat as much as you can before time is up. All of this while running cuts. It is as much about conditioning as well.

Tennessee could not throw in the ocean against Wisconsin. No shooting, no free throws and no enthusiasm, a bad bad combination. I heard Barnes say the new kid has cleared everything and enrolled, in theory he could play Saturday. Santiago is definitely a gamer, kid is smooth!!

One of the biggest obstacles to Vescovi playing if cleared will be Barnes himself.
Will he be patient enough to allow for the early TOs that will come from an eager and maybe over zealous passer in Vescovi and yield to the stoic slow footed James. Or will he allow for some early mistakes as the new guy melds into the system. There will be early TOs until some of the Klutzes(no offense, but we have them) learn to expect those passes that come from nowhere.

Here's a complete game by Vescovi (Global Academy) #9 white.
He can definitely light it up from the perimeter.

Championship game with Select blue. July 2019

Agreed. If he can just limit turnovers we will be better than we were with Lamonte, also hoping he doesn't shoot 12 3's a game either.... well unless he goes 40% or better LOL.

This kid was dropping dimes all over the place! I noticed that he doesn't have any fear driving to the basket either. The thing that I noticed the most was international "style" of defense. They did a lot of sagging off of their man but Vescovi did play the passing lanes well.

I think he is going to be a great passer and a very good shooter. If he is not a turnover machine with his passing, then I think he will add a dimension that we have not had this year. I hope his teammates are ready, because he is going to be doing a lot of no-look passes.

I hope his defense is up to par, because Barnes is not going to play him much if he can't defend his man.

He had 8 steals first game against China 2019 nba academy games in Atlanta.

Vescovi still needs to pass a physical and gain eligibility by the NCAA before he can play. The NCAA’s eligibility center opens on Jan. 2, and Tennessee doesn’t expect any issues on him becoming eligible in time for Saturday’s noon tip-off with LSU at Thompson-Boling Arena.

If you want to watch all of his games from the 2019 NBA Academy event in July go here:

Also lists his stats for all games. some games better than others. He does turn it over. But he also rebounds and plays defense. 8 steals first game against china.
Note: some of these days he was playing 2 games in one day. Should be in pretty good shape.
He's not quick or bone fast but somehow gets to the rim to shoot or kick out. Also unselfish.

He passed the physical on 12/28 when he arrived.

How long after NCAA approval will it take the SEC to clear him? or has SEC approved pending NCAA.

The only thing that has to change is Bowden, James and the other guards start hitting some shots. As long as they are going 5 for 27 from the field we'll keep losing. They had the shots that they should be making and making at least forty percent will at least get us in the game.

Serious question - does it matter if he shoots 12 3's a game right now because the offense is unwatchable. But I get your point. He needs to be an improvement versus what we have. I get the feeling that will be easier than we think. Nothing against James but at his size he can start at the 2 or 3, and be a backup PG. I can also see Vescovi getting 10 minutes or less the first 3 weeks or so.
