Vescovi scored just 5 points

Thank god. The hate in Barnes for this loss is so absurd. We got outplayed at almost every position. Michigan hit the potential they’ve had all season at the very worst time for us.

Michigan had a guy shadowing Vescovi all game long and you cannot win any game just getting two three pointers.

Plavsic missed a couple of close in shots tonight.

Let's recognize something about Santiago Vescovi: He does many things very well, but he he does not have a quick first step and as a result, has difficulty creating his own shot. He benefits enormously from having Kennedy Chandler and Zachai Zeigler on the team to take pressure off of him. Put him against a team that is dedicated to taking him out of the game and this is the result you can expect.

Tennessee does not fare well against the Big Ten in the NCAA Tournament.

That may be understating it. Since 2007 we’ve been eliminated by Michigan three times, and by Michigan State, Ohio State, and Purdue once each.

During that time we have beaten Iowa twice and Ohio State once. If you‘re counting, that‘s 3 wins and 6 losses in the tournament against the Big 10.

Best I remember, he was pretty good before Chandler and Zeigler got here.
Yes, the kid has limitations. But, looking at it a different way, it’s pretty amazing that he leads this team in scoring with said limitations.
Kid busts his a$$ to make the most of his God-given ability.

And beating Iowa in the tournament doesn't count

Our guys had pressure and expectations. We were going to eventually have an off night shooting and UT happened against the wrong team. Michigan who shouldn't have been in the tournament had absolutely 0 pressure. They played with house money.
Michigan's a team of NBA players who haven't been able to put two good games together back to back until now. Tennessee's a team of Euro league players who have been playing out of their minds for three weeks. Unfortunately, they couldn't do it for three more games....

He must develop a threat from 2 point area so people will not cover him so tightly from the 3 area. He has to drive more like Chris Lofton did in this later years. Christ was not super quick but was effective from the 2 pt area so people could not guard him so tightly.

Michigan did a great job taking Vescovi out of the game from the beginning. Give them credit. Still a tough young man, has been a catalyst for us all year and solid college player. Next year he is going to have to make further adjustments to his game as everyone is going to try and force him to put ball on the floor.

Got to give props to Michigan they took Vescovi out of the game. At the end of the day he is best offensive player.
Yes they did and that was the difference. That and not being able to control Dickinson. He just ate our inside people alive.

He was gassed. He also had trouble playing D this game. 4 games in 8 days with the style he plays it is understandable. Watch the replay and focus on SV away from the ball. He just didn’t have any fuel in his tank…

Vescovi is always going to struggle with length and speed guarding him. Michigan did their homework and shut him down. Smart coaching on their part. A championship team would adjust and compensate, but we couldn’t.
Great season. Looking forward to next year.
ZZ was off. You can't have 2 of the 3 guards shooting poorly.
JJJ is great for 10 points in the first 8 mins and he's done.
The bigs rarely score anyway.
Not exactly many options to offer compensation.

Tennessee droughts: Second half 17 min. to 13 min. 6 points.... 9:41 to 3:21 min. 3 points... 3:21 to 0 minutes 6 points .. 3-point shots 2 for 18. Vescovi 5 points for game. With those figures, the Grim Reaper has arrived ! p.s. Michigan big man made 3 three-point shots- one more than entire Tennessee team.

Credit to Michigan. They seemed to have a phenomenal plan. We had very few clean looks at 3's and we missed the few that were open. They forced us to play big on big which we really haven't done all year. I wish we had a better plan for Dickinson, because I know we had the overall better team.

That said, I'll remember this team for winning the conference tournament for a long time. It was a great season for Tennessee basketball. Gotta believe the program benefits greatly from a season like this.

I know we haven't won a Natty,, but I actually believe Tennessee should be considered just below the threshold of blueblood status in college bball considering our recruiting, consistency in rankings, and nationwide attention.

It was a great defensive plan from Michigan coaches. Wish we had any semblance of a plan for their 7 footer
Totally agree. Michigan plan against Santi was excellent, and our defensive game plan in regards to covering Dickinson was horrific. Almost looked as if we had no game plan, and that we just through them out there and said play ball. Really don't understand continuing time after time Fulki or Uros helping up high on Mich guards and leaving Dickinson wide open after he set the high pick. Total lack of preparation and adjustments. We were definitely outcoached in a couple of areas. People can say bad shooting all they want. But give the Michigan coaches credit.
