anyone else find it an odd coincidence that the Falcons play a Monday night game on the same day Vick was sentenced?

Mary Winkler shoots her husband (this was the preachers wife) in the back while he is asleep. She is sentenced to 210 days in jail (7 months)

Michael Vick funds dog fighting. He is sentenced to 23 months in prison. He still has to go on trial for state dog fighting charges.

Explain that

OJ doesn't understand either one of those outcomes.

I think Vick has more than enough $ to get good lawyers. It is a case of devaluation of human life. I am a huge fan of animals and think what Vick did was wrong. But when you compare it to shooting a man while he is sleeping, it is not even close.

It's par for the course. There have been several times this year when the Falcons have had a big game and/or news and it's been overshadowed by a development in the Vick case. Not that there's anything "big" about this game for the Falcons anymore, of course. I can't wait to listen to three straight hours of Tirico and Kornheiser talking about Vick tonight while Chris Redman's getting ground into the Georgia Dome turf.

Vick's lawyers totally dropped the ball in this whole case. They shouldn't even be paid after that incompetence.

Its not the lawyers in the Vick case I'm really referring to. Plus, I guess its more about the judges, but they are just lawyers, too. So I guess I stand by my first statement.

But I do agree with you.

And 2 years for killing some danged dogs? Please!!!

This would be equal to Vick mentality.

I may be alone here, but come on. I like animals but spending felony time in prison for killing some dogs just strikes me as excessive. There are some folks on here that will burn me for that statement, but its just my opinion.

which is why i might just totally skip the game. Last thing I want to hear about is three more hours of this case.

If a man had shot his wife in the back while she sleeped I wonder how many days he would have got?

As a dog owner, I would say that if someone harmed one of my animals I would honestly be willing to hurt that person. I find no joy in how Vick's life is turning out. But he deserves what he is getting.

It's only ok to shoot animals if they taste good. Everyone knows that.

Its also Ok to shoot them if they are badly injured or threatning of personal life and/or livestock. (I have had to put down my own animals myself before. Animals know whats about to happen on the ride to the vet)

I'm not saying what Vick did was ok, but getting a stronger sentence than people guilty of violent crimes against people is simplty ignorant.

If someone degrades themselves to killing an innocent & defenseless dog, then to me, yes they deserve to be in jail.
