Vick's Plea Bargain

i just found it very interesting that basically everyone named as a defendant in this thing has turned state's evidence all willing to testify against Vick.

likely due to the money trail involved, most likely leading to Vick funding the majority of the goings on at this place.

it certainlly does not look good for the old boy.......

His attorney is Billy Martin - this guy's Johnny Cochran level. Parents of Chandra Levy, Wesley Snipes, Monica Lewinsky, etc.

You have a point on some level, but the big problem I have with it is that in dog fighting animals are actually bred specifically to maim and kill each other. As human beings, we should just be more evolved than that IMO.

You must dislike George W. Bush.

I was referring more to his courtroom tactics more than anything. Both have abused the catchy courtroom soundbites to no end. Refer to Dana Carvey's sketch on the OJ trial for a good description of Martin.

This is a little off-topic, and I'm against dog fighting, and agree it should be illegal; however this country euthanizes thousands of dogs every year because they have no home.

In countries like Korea they eat dog and raise them for food. Drug companies in this country does drug testing on animals like dogs. It seems their is no outrage over any of that.

There's a big difference between euthanizing a dog because he is unwanted and taking a 5 gallon bucket, filling it full of water and just drowning the dog.

Vick and his crew couldn't afford a gun and just shoot them?Is there a need to hang and drown a dog?

That's what pisses me off about the whole thing. Letting two dogs kill each other for capital gain is one thing but the total inhumane way they offed the dogs (if the stories are true) is despicable.

Vick may play football again but he will never make the kind of money or ever, ever have the superstar clout he once did.

i think it was done because they were in a suburban area, and didn't want reports of gun shots called in.....

Report: Vick agrees to plea deal, prison possible - CNN.com

Vick will plead guilty to felony conspiracy next Monday, defense attorney Lawrence Woodward told the Virginian-Pilot, of Norfolk, Virginia.

The newspaper reports that the plea will help Vick avoid additional federal charges.

"Mike's accepting full responsibility," Woodward told the newspaper. "He's going to do everything he can personally and professionally to make this situation right."

another promising career cut short because an athlete couldn't cut ties with a thug culture that has no redeeming qualities.

Is Vick friends with Saban?

Saban: "I will not be the coach at Alabama."

Vick: "I look forward to clearing my good name."

I think the punishment should fit the crime. Put Vick in a cage, make him fight Pacman. Or put him in prison in one of those "rape gates"

A lot of NFL'ers are weird and sometimes anti-social in their behavior.

Goodell is going to suspend Vick for the season the second he enters the plea bargain, alleviating the Falcons from their financial ties to the situation.

As for his career... Strange as it may sound, I wouldn't rule out Vick playing in the NFL again some day.

I seriously doubt Vick's time in prison will count toward time served toward any suspension handed down by Goodell. What would be the point of suspending a QB from the league that obviously won't be able to drop back and throw passes from a prison cell?

On Sportscenter this AM, they actually included bytes of other athletes defending him, with Roy Jones Jr. saying "it's not like he killed a kid or anything," and a basketball player (missed who it was) saying that last he heard, "dogfighting was a sport."

If I were an agent or publicist, I'd tell my athlete clients to keep their mouths shut on this one.

Which is exactly what Drew Rosenhaus did after Clinton Portis made a fool of himself when this story first broke. The basketball player was Stephon Marbury, Professional Imbecile.

It's ridiclious hearing people talk about this. All the Vick defenders claim is that he "didn't kill anyone" and "cows and chickens are killed for consumption everyday" or "people hunt year round"

My buddy not to long ago showed me a video on his phone of a deer that had broken it's leg trying to run away and they put a noose around it's neck then drug it and had the dogs all on it. I jumped all over my friends ass for that. I'm no PETA freak, but theres no need for that crap. It was sick to see a helpless animal treated like that.

Anything worth doing is worth doing responsibly. The fact that the dogs fought does not bother me any. I've said it before, it's the nature in which they killed the dogs which gets me. No domesticated living deserves to be hung, drowned, or electrocuted for no reason except for, "well you weren't good enough"

When these athletes are giving sound bytes about this they aren't understanding that the reason people are outraged lies in how he killed the dogs and not the actual dog fighting. I'm sure there are some very well thought out itelligent sound bytes from different players, but ESPN would rather show you an uninformed guy spouting off at the mouth because he's hard. It's ridiclious.

Also this thing has racial undertones in it that if sparked by someone will explode like nothing anyone has ever seen. Two names I can not believe I haven't heard yet: Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson.

Uh, I'd say you're pretty wrong about this. I think the actual dogfighting is pretty disgusting as well. I think most people agree with me on this. Having another animal tear apart your windpipe for the enjoyment of people gamlbing is easily on the sadistic side.

I think you are both right. I do think he would get more leniency from the public though if he didn't kill dogs in the manner he did and just did the dog fighting.

It's very disgusting but some of these athletes are desensitized to it and it isn't a big deal to them. They think he let dogs fight, "So what?"

Reporters need to be asking them what they think about him, allegedly, taking a five gallon and drowning a dog, or hanging a dog, so on.

Sorry, I don't feel being hanged is any worse than being thrown in a pit and chewed to death for the simple fact that you are not as good a fighter as your opposition. It is all pretty effing bad to me.

That's basically what my long winded post was trying to say. Thanks for getting to the point for me. I get lost sometimes and never bring my point back around.

Yeah exactly none of it's good. I was just getting to why these guys would be giving these quotes.

By the way Roy Jones Jr. has a contract with Nike. He better be watching out.

Roy Jones and Stephon Marbury gave the quaotes they did for a simple reason. They're both morons.

...and ESPN knows that and searches them out where they can say "Look at what some stars are saying.....stay tuned."
