Maybe I'm old, but I think that pumping in canned rock music when you've got a band standing right there is lame. Beavis would think that it's the coolest team entrance EVAR.
I missed the beginning of the game, what did they do?
You've got to like the Tech fans' enthusiasm. It's just that "Enter Sandman" has become about the most hackneyed sports entrance music there is. It's hard to give VPI much credit for having a great entrance when it's so generic.

I give their fans credit where credit is due, regardless of how played out that song might be.
No fanbase in the SEC gets that jacked up just before their team runs on the field.
I'm not sure that I accept pogoing as a useful barometer of how jacked up people are. My grandfather got pretty freaking jacked up about UT football to the end, and for the last few years he couldn't even stand up anymore. It's just that nobody instituted mandatory pregame pogoing to rock music at any SEC games because neither rock music or pogoing had been invented when most of our teams were serious about football.
They sure didn't look any more or less enthusiastic than most SEC fans once the game got started.
ESPN got a great shot of VT's fans reacting to their intro video and Metallica's "Enter the Sandman" prior to the team taking the field.
I'm not a big fan of piped in music, but their crowd was pretty amped up and it was cool to watch.
As the team ran onto the field the VT band played their fight song, but you couldn't hear it over the crowd noise.
I guess the team wasn't paying any attention after watching their first half performance.ESPN got a great shot of VT's fans reacting to their intro video and Metallica's "Enter the Sandman" prior to the team taking the field.
