Virginia Tech's Entrance Last Night

The VT stuff was cool enough - just watched it again via YouTube (different game, same thing).

Didn't do them much good last night *shrug*

The Metallica thing is pretty cool, I have to give them that - but it IS dated. They won't be doing that 20 years from now. They'll probably be hopping to some Fiddy Cent tune then.

Yes, Bama does it with SHA and Hell's Bells on 3rd down huddles. I haven't been to a game in a while but I think they still take the field to "Yea Alabama" played by the band. Never grows old, nor will UT's entrance.

Sometimes the oldie IS the goodie.

Good luck this weekend Vols. I'm truly hoping for a UT win.

Honestly I would love to experience a VT entrance sometime in my life.. Gives me chills
Posted via VolNation Mobile

you can replicate that experience by going to some WWE wrestling event. They also have piped in music for the entrance, and the fans also like to hop up and down.

I've never hopped up and down for an entrance, and never will, but I don't think that is any reflection of how excited I get when we run through the T.

Clemson's entrance is cool. I got a chance to see it live when they played South Carolina in '02.

Speaking of South Carolina, that 2001 entrance is about as overrated as it gets....that techno crap they blast before kickoffs is even worse.

Couldn't agree more on both points...Clemson's entrance is pretty cool when you're in the stadium.

I abhor South Carolina's concept of getting pumped up, but they do seem to love it when that cock appears.

On a side note, I have "friends" who are USCe fans and swear up and down that it's magic when the mascot appears in the cage. You can't reason with them that there could possibly be a better entrance in all of college football because theirs is "magic." :post-4-1090547912:

this is a very informative thread. I will make sure to jump up and down Saturday to prove my excitement to other UT fans. They will then know there is no way to match my ultimate display of excitement

This isn't about UT's entrance, UF's, or anyone else for that matter.

VT fans have their own thing, and I enjoyed watching it...nothing more, nothing less.

it would be great if they were an NFL team, but since VaTech is full of douchey kids and is located in the middle of nowhere, I think it sucks

You know whats really cool? Boise State winning.

VT's entrance with a loss is like a boxer talking all this ****, then getting the 10 count on the cold mat.

wow - Vols fans like to crap on anything thats not your own. If UT did this you'd think its the best entrance ever...if a UF fan didn't point it out, you may even think it was at least ok - but hell, we don't do it Knoxville and a Gator fan likes it therefore it sucks. We have some of the most negative and self important fan base I've ever seen - and I grew up in the NY area with NY Yankees fans. I thought they were bad.

I like the VT entrance. I like fans up out of their seats jumping around getting crazy. most of the time I go to Neyland I have old farts yelling at me to sit down. I've been to Penn State games in Happy Valley and other games at other stadiums where, especially in the student sections, they stand and yell for the majority of the game. I guess you guys don't like the Cameron crazies that support Duke basketball either - its one of the best places to see a game and to see the crowd as pumped up.

If Vols fans got loud and that riled up at games instead of moaning and complaining on these boards, maybe we could get Neyland rocking again. The last time I remember it really really loud, with full crown support was the mid-late 1990's. I remember one game in particular, in the rain against arkansas, on our way to our national championship - the game where Stoerner fumbles the ball and gave us that come from behind victory...I remember cheering at loud as I could and I still couldn't hear my own voice because the rest of Neyland stadium was THAT loud. I've not seen it like that in nearly a decade. We could use SOMETHING to pump up our fan base. I'm not saying running through the T isn't a great entrance - just that we can all acknowledge VT and other schools have a pretty awesome entrance too, and in some of those cases, maybe theirs is even better at pumping up their fan base.

I think you should quit going to VOLS games. It upsets you too much and you might have a heart attack at a young age.

In the meantime watch plenty of live rasslin' to keep your edge.

Of every school that plays that song, VT and it's fans make it seem special.

Surprise! an insult from god knows who, who has absolutely no idea who I am or anything about me yet takes a shot at me and my apparent ignorance. Also assumes I am young. Typical though, and what I expected. My only shock is this is the only guy who blasted me so far.

Instead of lobbing insults, you could choose to disagree in an intelligent manner, even, oh, I don't know, offer a valid counter argument, or even a point of view. I have to assume that is above your mental pay grade. But, really, thanks for proving a point.

Well, at an old age then. You should be celebrating since I was the only person who "blasted" you.

I'm not crapping on it because it's "not our own"; I'm crapping on it because it's generic. As I said upthread, I like their crowd's enthusiasm, but anytime your team is running on to the field to a song from a "Jock Jams" CD, you really need to be trying harder. This is like nominating some group of fans for being the best crowd because their arena does the best rendition of "We Will Rock You" ever.

Metallica basically died when Cliff Burton did.

Fail.

Metallica 1996 through 2003 I can buy....but Justice is awesome and so is Death Magnetic. The Black Album was bit of desent into "sell-out" territory but nonetheless a good album.

Cut the head off a chicken and the body still runs around for awhile. I'm not enough of a Metallica fan to be knowledgeable about the personal dynamics of the band, but soon after Burton died the band clearly went in a different direction -- and if you started listening to Metallica because you were blown away by what they were doing on "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets," it was a huge disappointment. Everything began to seem calculated around self-promotion and the massive ego of Lars Ulrich; the music started to sound like Metallica's attempt at writing radio-friendly unit shifters. I have no idea whether Burton's death was the catalyst or not, but you can draw a pretty clear line in the sand between when Metallica was the best band in the world and when Metallica sucked, and Burton was probably still getting hate mail from bill collectors when that line was crossed.

I can't say I have any idea whether their last album was any good or not, because when a band puts out dreck for a whole decade, I move on to other stuff.

Bull crap...Kill'em All, Ride the lightning and Master of Puppets will ALWAYS be THE Metallica albums from there on out it is down hill.

I loved the Va Tech entrance, and given how small our band has been the last few years-id gladly take some piped in music at certain parts of the game.
