Hey CBC, I know you hate Gordon and all but me being a 24 fan, since you're the Nascar Guru,is he in your opinion, too far out at this point to still have a good shot at winning the thing again or is it looking pretty bad?

no he is only 11 points out of 10th at this point. and his two best tracks are coming up. sonoma and daytona.

i just think that hendrick is pushing the 48 way more. there was a point in todays race where johnson was racing gordon for position. well, gordon comes over his radio and whines about it and says "tell him if he wants to race we can, but i want to go to the front"

just alot of jealousy starting to boil imo. and i cant get enough of it.

that damn #8 would have won this race if not for the rain. he has found a new gear and all you other suckers better watch out.

NASCAR sure wanted the little girl to win this one awfully bad. Frickin' two lap caution for rain when the sun is clearly shining so he can get his lap back, and once he does get back to the lead and it starts to rain, they don't waste anytime to call the race. Sickening.

Pretty encouraging race for #24, I thought. He didn't drop like a rock after the first pit stop for once. He could win the next 2 races and if he continues to run this well on these types of tracks, he should be sittin' pretty.

If 24 can't win, I hope 8 does.I kind of look for a Johnson and Gordon split sooner or later.

yeah. i think johnson is burning to get out of jeffy's shadow. jimmie is a superstar and there just isnt enough room for both of them there.

and tiddwell what is up with dissing kahne. i like ol kasey. probably my second or third favorite. he has the most wins this year.

and you have to give him this tidd, he is winning with that dodge crap. he is a damn good driver.

My 1st fav driver was Bill Elliott. Kahne's havin a season just like Bill did in 88....if his cars on...you cant do much with him , he's got a great pit crew that works hard not to hurt him.

Once Kahne puts that car in the wall like he tried to do in practice yesterday, his season is over. He's won all of those races in that exact same car on the cookie cutter tracks. Like dan said, if the car is right, which that one has been this season, no one will beat it.

few updates on the whole ups ordeal.....looks like the bif will be sporting the ups truck next year. hope they do something to the paint scheme. dale jarrett has the ugliest car in nascar.

UPS to the #9? or #16? UPDATE 3 - looks like #16 in 2007: hearing UPS will leave the #88 Robert Yates Racing team and go to the #9 Evernham Dodge with driver Kasey Kahne.(6-8-2006)
UPDATE: On the sponsor front, sources in the garage indicate that UPS will be moving from #88 Robert Yates Racing to one of two teams in 2007, either the #9 Evernham Motorsports Dodge driven by Kasey Kahne or the #16 Roush Racing Ford driven by Greg Biffle.(Speed Channel)(6-10-2006)
UPDATE 2: It appears UPS is still in play as a major sponsor. In the past two years the winner in the sponsor hunt has been Evernham Motorsports. UPS may add itself to the list of Evernham conquests signing as the primary sponsor of the #9 Dodge driven by Kasey Kahne. Then again, it is said the Dodge Dealers aren't willing to vacate their position on Kahne's ride. The dealers might be willing to let loose of the #19 driven by Jeremy Mayfield. However, it’s not clear Mayfield would be the driver of choice for UPS.(Circletrackplus.com)(6-11-2006)
UPDATE 3 - to #16? hearing that UPS is going to be on the #16 Roush Racing Ford with driver Greg Biffle in 2007.(6-20-2006)

Nextel Announcement soon? UPDATE 2 at Daytona: hearing the Nextel/Sprint name change for 2007 could be announced anyday now, The Nextel Cup Series could be known as the Sprint Cup Series.(6-15-2006)
UPDATE: Word is that Sprint will, within a week or so, acknowledge a change in the name of NASCAR's top series for 2007, mandating Sprint Cup or Sprint/Nextel Cup. Sprint acquired the assets of its walkie-talkie rival last year and promised an eventual name change in order to make use of Nextel's top sports marketing property.(Speed Channel)(6-17-2006)
UPDATE 2: Sprint/Nextel is expected to make some sort of announcement next week at Daytona about its future plans for the name of the Cup series. Nextel probably will remain part of the title. The Nextel name isn't leaving the merged company, so why would the executives want to eliminate it from its NASCAR sponsorship? However, some type of name change is coming. The question is when. It would take a huge amount of work to change all NASCAR and track logos in time for the 2007 season.(Dallas Morning News)(6-23-2006)

Vickers to drive for Red Bull Racing MORE: it was announced by Brian Vickers on Speed Channel's Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain that Vickers has signed with Red Bull Racing to drive one of their two Toyota's in 2007. Bill Elliott will drive for the team in three races and could run for the team full time in 2007, he will supposedly drive Dodge's in the three 2006 races.(6-25-2006)
MORE: As revealed this evening on Speed TV, Team Red Bull formally announces a multi-year agreement with NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver Brian Vickers, the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series champion, to race the #83 Red Bull Toyota Camry starting with the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season. Rumors notwithstanding, more official information on the new team, including the second 2007 driver, will be made available later this year.(Red Bull Racing PR)(6-26-2006)
