VN Official Nascar Thread

If 10th to 15th is the best they've got that particular day, then I'd rather have that than being up and down by finishing top 5 one week then blowing an engine the next week.

I'd be ok if they were to up the winner's point total to 200 and leave every thing else the same. As tough as it is to win, it's almost as tough to run in the top 5 and 10 these days, so finishing 11th through 15th or so doesn't necessarily mean you had a bad day.

guys, nobody races for second place. race car drivers race to win. bottom line.

which is what makes the IRL way more exciting than NASCAR.

Yes, 4 cars with a chance to win. Super fun. Run the IRL's ratings and attendance figures by me really quick.

I did, he told me he was getting broadcasting experience for next year when the IRL is shoved out of the spotlight even further by NASCAR on ABC and ESPN.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy an IRL race, but the competition level pales in comparison when compared to NASCAR. The IRL is lucky to have 17 cars show up for the races.

no, the money and advertising pales in comparison to NASCAR. i never said it didn't.

but, the racing is better. and a race with 43 IndyCars would be pure chaos.

Ya the IRL, which sometimes i enjoy watchin(but not as much as nascar) will be half way thru the race and only have 7 cars that are within 2 laps of being down from each other

no, the money and advertising pales in comparison to NASCAR. i never said it didn't.

And why is that?

Because no one watches it.

Which begs the question... is great racing still great racing if no one is there to see it? :)

IRL is ok, but they only have a handful of people that are going to win each week and that gets boring. In Nascar, a lot more drivers have a chance to win, of course it's the ones with more money behind them. The road courses in IRL are fun to watch, but the road courses in Nascar bore me. IRL doesn't have all of those silly rules like Nascar does. Nascar makes them up as they go along and that gets irritating. I don't know if the IRL has favorites that they are more lenient with, but I know that Nascar does. They both have their pros and cons.

tidwell, you can't honestly tell me me NASCAR drivers are more talented than IndyCar drivers?

tidwell, you can't honestly tell me me NASCAR drivers are more talented than IndyCar drivers?
Why not? What tells you that IRL drivers are more talented? Because they're going faster in cars with technology years ahead of stock cars?

Fact is, we don't know who is more talented, they're both the best at their particular form of racing.

Tid I'm with ya, I think Stock Car drivers are more talented than IRL drivers, They have to manuever a car around short tracks and super speedways, race in big packs and everything, that's harder than it seems....But anyways, how do you like Jr.'s chances this weekend? I think they're pretty good, top 5 is my guess

He should be able to get a solid top ten, and i'll take that. The car was running really well in the first race here before the engine went boom.

This is one of those tracks where you have all kinds of pit strategy, so that's my bgigest concern. Just hope they can come out on the right end of that instead of running well all day then just making the wrong call all the way to a 25th place finish.

We'll see, doozer. He's got just as good a shot as anyone out there right now. I believe the question was how he'd do at New Hampshire anyway, but, you don't like Jr. and the shots at him and his fans are expected, and that's cool.

I guess that explains why you're out there doing it right now, doesn't it?

Anyone can drive a stock car... or Indy car, or sprint car. It doesn't mean you'd be any good at it, but you can certainly do it.

two things:

Junior has no shot in the chase.

i could drive a stock car.
Well hey, why don't you hop in one and go beat him next year, Ricky Bobby! Since anyone could drive a stock car....I have a hunch that a trained monkey could drive a stock car better than you and drive a regular car

HAHAHAHA! Thanks for the laugh. Dale Jr. DOES have a shot at the Chase, all of the top 10 drivers do. You got your panties in a wad when someone said something negative about Kahne, yet it's ok for you to diss Dale Jr.? I don't think so. You would pee in your pants if you drove a stock car for 3 or 4 hours straight going at an average of 180 mph.

i never got my panties in any wad. that was your boy #10 that flew off the handle and attackd me. fact is, i don't like Kahne either.

i had no avenue into stock car racing, or else i'd be doing it. and you don't even need a trained monkey to drive a stock car. an untrained one would work just fine.

nobodies dissing Jr., just stating facts. he is essentially a one car team. one car teams have no chance in this day and age of racing.

LMFAO!!!!!!! You're always good for a laugh...When did I ever fly off the handle and personally attack you? No, actually I don't care....That's funny though!

The IRL is lucky to have 17 cars show up for the races.
That's because open wheel racing split into two competing series. If they could find a way to remerge the IRL with the Champ Car Series they would have about a 35 car field every week. Of course that would mean we would probably lose our IRL race here in Nashville :cray:
