Vol Calls

Again, do you honestly believe fans «do not allow” Tennessee to succeed?
Again, do you honestly believe fans «do not allow” Tennessee to succeed?

I believe that there is a very vocal segment of the Tennessee fan base that becomes a lynch mob at the drop of a hat that can and has hurt Tennessee football. Social Media has very much empowered them beyond their numbers. If you don't think the media can affect Tennessee football(and most any other issue ), I advise you to look into Tom Mattingly and Celina Summers and their book describing the so called "revolution" of just a few yrs ago that in the end, propelled Fulmer and Pruitt into the leadership of Tennessee football. Now please answer me: Do you believe fans with their social media have no effect on Tennessee football?

SIAP, but Freak, other mods....is there a reason why embedded tweets stop showing up in the feed, and what needs to be done to correct this? Asking for a friend...

Much appreciated.

While I think the back to bubba reference was overly crude, it is important that Pruitt gets unvarnished access to the full fury of what the greater VN feels about his job performance. Too often these guys can live in ivory towers but I’m sure Pruitt knows how this season would be received in bama, they would rip him to pieces.

so do you honestly think Vol fans are worse than Bama fans? What do you think would happen if Saban won 2 games and got blown out all season? They went thru the same thing for a few seasons with lame duck coaches before they struck gold with Saban.

The only difference is, Vol fans have been beyond patient to have a winning football team again. There are kids graduating high school that has never seen an elite Vol team.... with all the resources we have, its beyond pathetic at this point

I respect the fact that Phillip had the cojones to address Coach Pruitt with a little emotion. Would we rather have censorship with Vol calls now? If the coach takes the call, he needs to understand he is putting himself in the fire. I am glad that Coach Pruitt took the high road and answered the best he could without insulting the fan.

I propose a Ministry of Volunteer Truth. All electronic media posts should be reviewed by an unelected board of self-appointed Real-Fans. Any post not complying with the standards of conduct arbitrarily laid out by the board will deemed damaging to the program, and will subsequently be edited for content or deleted prior to being read by any outside entity.

God Bless America, the Volunteers, and may your chains rest lightly.

Just remember that Pruitt hated UT before we gave him millions of dollars. The second we fire him he’ll go back to hating UT.
How much can you truly hate someone that gives you $12.88mil for *****ing in their bed?

I suspect the UTAD will be getting Xmas cards from the Pruitts for years to come!

Tennessee football has hurt itself FAR more than any fan can ever do. Don’t confuse them.

It might be the last time a call like that slips past the censors at Vol calls. It was fun while it lasted. The call screener has probably been severely reprimanded at the very least.

There's confusion as to what the caller said. Another story says the caller said "ball coach" NOT "Vol" coach. Also tweet left out other parts of the exchange.

He said.....”a lot of us fans want to know when you gonna admit your not a ball coach and go back to Alabama”?

Totally agree with you. Call in's such as this and those who approve and think it's cute, only expose the caliber of a segment of the fanbase that doesn't seem to realize how grossly repugnant they are to anyone with any intelligence or class.
What MANY on this board don't seem to understand is that "respect" is EARNED! This entire University Administration has been NOTHING BUT disrespectful to the hundreds of thousands of donors (large and small) that have supported this program through thick and thin for decades. And WHAT do they give back???? Bargain bin hires!!! No evidence of the drive to be excellent! Nothing but take, take, take... and ZERO in return!!! Oh, wait... LOTS of embarrassment. UT donors and alumni deserve WAAAAY better! That comment by Phil was more of an indictment against the entire UT administration as it was Pruitt! Unfortunately for Pruitt... He makes FOUR MILLION a year to take the damn heat!!! OH, the humanity!

Hopefully, considering the leadership in the athletic department at UT, I hope the fans do have a lot of influence with their social media and any other means they have. The leadership at UT is on its way to bankrupting the program.

I'm embarrassed to have a fan like Phillip. He exposes the caliber of a segment of the fanbase that will not allow Tennessee to succeed, empowered by the media to express his low level sentiments and your approval of it.

I guess he could have been cordial but to each his own. News flash UT fans old & young have had it with sh1tty football. Pruitt makes enough money to be asked questions like this even if the questions are unpleasant. This is Tennessee football man. The only thing preventing the success of Tennessee football are horrible decisions made by the UTAD.
