I bailed to Lake Mary. I just didn't see the need to sit through another hurricane at night. As bad as it was, Andrew was even more stressful because of the nighttime arrival.

Looking out the window in Tampa.
Light drizzle and breezy. Calm before the storm.

At 5 a.m., weather officials said the storm was plodding northwest at about 8 miles per hour, placing it on pace to reach Naples by about 5 p.m.

I have all of my supplies in an interior bathroom in the house. Does not appear that I will be getting much sleep tonight.

Things have really started to ramp up here since around 2PM. Worst is supposed to hit around 11PM. We've turned the master closet into our bunker. Stay safe everyone.

If I see empty wine bottles floating down the streets, I know where they came from.

Unreal. Evac'd to East of Orlando and am now without power. Meanwhile, I can see the cams from my house and all seems well. Here (with family), we had to try and secure a pool cage that tore loose from the deck by the door. I think we've got it, but the worst is yet to come.

And on top of it all, I may not be able to see the game in Gainesville this week? WTH

Lots of shingles and fence panels blowing around the neighborhood and some trees down. Have a leak in the kitchen but all people are fine

Where are you located and where are you originally from?

I'm in Port St. John, near KSC; originally from Elizabethton, Tn. Been here almost 8 years. Retired AF (21.5 yrs) and AF Civil Service (11 years)
Go Vols!

Merritt Island here. At least I hope my part is still an island. I am in Savannah at the moment until the power comes back on.
