Vol Fans in Georgia?

Haha. Yeah. Definitely nothing small town about Lawrenceville. And Duluth is basically just the sprawl of Atlanta. He's getting info off wiki and not considering the fact that city limits mean very little in the north metro area. You can drive from Atlanta to Roswell to Duluth to Lawrenceville and it never feels like you left the same city.

This has become even more apparent since I moved from GA to Knoxville. There are no cities in north metro Atlanta. Just county lines really.

Lawrenceville, Dacula, and Duluth are all smaller than I really am interested in. I don't really care for that small town kinda feel. It makes me kinda depressed to be honest. I'm more interested in living closer to a city where more is going on.

Time to take John Snow avatar down.

If you are going to stay closer to Atlanta I would stay in the Lawrenceville/Duluth area. That is where I am now and it's not bad. I'm 26 btw. Plenty to do and close to Atlanta or Winder really. And from here the commutes would be fairly easy, opposite way of traffic both ways.

Athens is REALLY cool though. The nightlife there is pretty much second to none. Limitless things to do really. But I would consider both

I just moved in to my new apartment in Athens. Found a pretty nice place near the 5 points area. Gotta get a Power T flag now. I'm afraid to put anything UT related on my car because someone here might key it or something. Thanks for all the input!

Man. You didn't fool around. You're down there where the action is ... and just as all the students are about to hit town.

I'm on S. Lumpkin so a little SW of 5 pts & campus.

Got a really good deal on an apartment, but yea I'm expecting it to get pretty wild here in a few weeks. I didn't have much of a choice the company gave me two weeks to move out, find an apartment, and move in before starting work tomorrow. It's been a crazy few weeks!

It's hard to convince people of this, but surprisingly, from Athens it's actually about the same heading north on 441 and then going to Waynesville NC and picking up I-40 to Knoxville as it is going to ATL and catching I-75.

You're correct about taking 441 and 74 to Waynesville to get to Knoxville. From Athens, it would take about the same amount of time and it's actually a pretty nice drive through the mountains. I live in south Georgia and often go that way when traveling back to East TN around the holidays. I can completely avoid the Atlanta mess, though, I actually tend to have more trouble with traffic south of Atlanta near the Jonesboro area.

I was actually looking at that. Pretty interesting. Is there ANYTHING along the way though? Like gas stations more than once every 40 miles or so?

In Georgia, some of the better areas to stop would be Commerce, Cornelia and Clayton. Between the NC/GA border and Waynesville, most of the gas stations and food will be located near the towns of Franklin, Dillsboro and Sylva. Once you hit I-40, there isn't much of anything until you reach Newport.

The first time I stepped out of my Jeep after moving to Atlanta I was decked out in UT gear. It took a whole ten seconds before UGA fans were trying to heckle me.

My dad and I took this route last Saturday on the way down to Athens. It was a beautiful drive and much better than fighting your way through Atlanta traffic! I will probably use it whenever I have to return to Knoxville.

congratulations and Good Luck

Much appreciated!

I had to go to Target and get a few things for my apartment last night. Got several dirty looks walking around there. My Power T flag should be arriving later this week. :)
