Vol Fans Who Went to Oregon

Thank you! However being that I currently live in Alabama, I think I have an opinion on SEC schools. In fact, I lived here when Auburn beat my Ducks for the National Championship so I have earned the right to comment on the SEC. This is a great board and I will be here for awhile.

No. No you havent.

Congrats on living in the arm pit of America. My point was Autzen is overrated. I've been to at least 5 different stadiums that are waaaaaay louder and more intimidating. Sorry.

Not according to the scoreboard. But thank you for attending.

P.S. You live in frikkin BEND and your insulting Alabama? Don't forget, I grew up in Hillsboro bro. I know Bend.

I graduated Hilhi in 1990. That year our wrestling team traveled to Bend for a meet. Anyone ever seen Footloose? Yea, Bend. Nuff said.

You just confirmed what I already knew. You're either 15 years old or don't get out much.

Bend is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in this country. Read a book or something buddy. You sound clueless.

I enjoyed my trip to Oregon. Some of the nicest fans I've ever ran across in being a visitor to a stadium. As far as the stadium noise...I was expecting much MORE noise and don't give me a line about it being a blow out. When we were ahead in the beginning the Oregon fans were making noise.....just not as much as I was expecting. As one Oregon fan told me after the game....he was a little worried during the first part of the game. Most SEC stadium are MUCH louder!

I can't believe they haven't started school yet. I think UT has been in school for over 5 weeks. How late to they end fall/spring semester?

Well it doesn't mean anything to Oregon fans because you've only been good for about 10 years. Its all good. Enjoy your team.

Weak argument man. I was there. It wasn't loud because the game was a blowout. I walked the tailgating. A lot of UT fans having fun.

Facts:
Autzen is small but the UO wants to keep it that way. No need for a 80K stadium. Autzen is already loud.

UT got blown out. Crowd was already yawning halfway through the 2nd quarter.

As for UT fans, loved them but I saw a lot, I mean A LOT of sherbet in the Moshofsky Center in the 2nd half drinking beers not giving a F about the game. That tends to happen when you lose 59-14

School is not in session yet so you did not feel the real student section.

UT is good but played like a young team. Don't throw the national titles in our face as an excuse. Oregon is new school, UT is old school. The way it is. Tradition is a weak ass excuse.

Bottom Line: really impressed with the UT turnout. Best I have ever seen at a Oregon home game from the opposing team. Keep it real. Beat UF. Get better.

Shut it. Bend is a very beautiful place. Obviously you have not been there since your high school years back in the 80's. That is the only way I can see a correlation between the movie Footloose and Bend.

With that said, um, you live in Alabama now. The whole state is a **** hole. Knoxville and TN are beautiful places far above anything Alabama has to offer so stop throwing rocks man.

Not to be rude, but the general conscious is that there wasn't much to be loud about. When you blow a team out before halftime, its not going to be as loud as it could be.
Also keep in mind Oregon fans have been quite spoiled these last four years. We expect to blow a team out like Tennessee. Its not that exciting when it happens.

I have a feeling that when Tenn was up 7-0 in the first quarter and stopped UO's first two drives that the crowd was about as into the game as they'll ever be. Students there or not.

Let's just put this to bed-you don't have to validate your stadium to us. Your team is awesome. Your stadium for the size is impressive but there are other stadiums out there that are bigger and better. There is more to it than dB on the field.

That said, I pick Oregon and Alabama to meat in the NC game, but give Nick Satan a month to prepare and it won't be as easy.

Bend sucks. Looks like it could be in Alabama.

Portland is boring, and even Aldridge told you this.

Washington>>>>Oregon. :good!:

I love how OU fans keep trying to convince UT fans with the stuff of unicorns and flying carpets, magic, that the law of physics is overcome at Autzen. It's not. SEC teams routinely play weekly conference games in front of 80, 90, and 100 k crowds. Until OU can wave a magic wand 50,000 some odd people cannot out yell 80,000, 90,000 and 100,000 crowds of people. Ducks call up Einstein and complain if you're buttsore about it.

I am a season ticket holder and alumnus who has attended many games. The fact is, Autzen was not very loud when TN was visiting. There are a few things people need to understand: 1. The students are not in school yet, so many were not there; 2. You cannot judge the sound being IN the stadium nearly as well as being on the ground / turf; 3. Not to be disrespectful, but Autzen has been notoriously loud when OR is the underdog - not when they are 4 TD favorites.

Point 3 has only been true for a few years. Unfortunately, the Oregon faithful have been spoiled.

With all of that said, I personally wouldn't put much into what anyone else says on these forums about the noise levels - I would much rather hear from the actual players, coaches and the media. If you agree, then go to this link:

Oregon Gridiron :: Autzen Stadium Quotes

Finally, I literally shook hands with at least 50 TN fans. I stopped and engaged TN at every turn to ask if they were having a good time. I gave away 9% IPA to a number of TN fans at our tailgate. I just really enjoyed seeing how well TN fans travel. Also, your board here is awesome - bettter than any other I have lurked on. Simply put, you guys have a fantastic fan base. I am a TN fan.

Good luck this year.

New school in you just started winning? Because y'all started playing football 3 years after us.

And with all things considered... students in school, rival game, close game, etc. How can 50k be louder than 100k? And I this is a 100% honest question.

We stayed until the very end. I pretty much always stay until the end but especially when I have traveled across the country.

As far as stadium noise, I don't care. Yea they can all get pretty loud, Autzen included.

I was very proud to see how much orange was in the stadium. Oregon fans seemed to be blown away.

I do wish more SEC teams had the sack to go out west though. We've played Cal, UCLA and now Oregon in the last 7 years alone. When is the last time an SEC team has gone out west other than us?

Don't care. Didn't read. I've been to all the stadium's that I mentioned and Autzen isn't even in the same stratosphere.

Just to throw it out there, then I'll head back to my board :).

Are you talking about how loud it was in the stands or on the field? 55K fans can't possibly be as loud as 100K. However, due to the architecture of Autzen, sound waves get "trapped" in the bowl shape and reverberate. That's why decibel readings are so high on the field. For example, Husky stadium (75K) sounds louder than Autzen in the stands, but to the players on the field it's not even close, Autzen is much louder.

Those of you who remained in your seats right up to the bitter end--THANK YOU! No, I wasn't there, I watched the game on TV. But I want you to know you reinforced my notion of what a Vols fan is supposed to be. Someone who even in the worse of times doesn't abandon his team. Rather appreciates the fact they worked hard to make it possible for us to have a team. And a team that went out in the face of huge disadvantages and kept playing. Undermanned to begin with, losing key players in key positions via withdrawals prior to season start, injuries, and conduct of $naky agent$, etc. The next game I attend, if it goes bad for us, I will remember I'm not alone in remaining right up to the final whistle. I will remember you guys. THANK YOU!

There was more orange in the stands at Autzen than we can manage to keep past the 3rd quarter at home...win OR lose...

I was at the game. Me and a buddy of mine painted up and tried our best to represent UT to the fullest. I live in Tacoma, Washington due to being in the Air Force. So best believe when the schedule came out I marked this game on the calendar. I loved seeing all the orange tailgaters, made me feel right at home. 70% of the Ducks fans were very courteous and hospitable. And to them, thank you for a fun time (though the game didn't go as planned). We had countless number of Duck fans ask if we regretted painting up. Not one bit. I'll rep UT, through the good and bad. Go Vols!

I had no problems at all with the Oregon fans around me, although that could have been due to the fact that the hubby is a Duck fan and is 6'4" and a solid 285!!
Actually, everyone was great to us, seeing that we were a "house divided"

Was you sitting on the front right behind one of the goal posts? Noticed a huge sign that said "House divided".
