Vol Recruit and UT gets dogged by Ensworth High School

I'll take Barnett...can we get a few more like him? Pissed off at being shown up, at losing, got some fire in him, got some competitive juices flowing, got a little "Dog" in him.

Would you rather have that attitude in a football player or McCullers' attitude? I'd much rather have a kid I have to coach to "dial back" a little bit than one I have to push to get going.

PS... how about that sissy little Prius owning announcer with the lisp? Haha. Definitely a Vandy "dude".

my question is why didn't the runner take a knee? as for the broadcaster . he is in a corn field in middle Tennessee, a town that host a no class university called Vanderbilt.sounded like a Maryville broadcaster!!!

Looked clean to me..and also, he was able to run that guy down from many yards away..quite impressed really..hope the QB learns next time to get hit like he should or face the wall! Nice push, enjoyed the video.

And an overall 25% winning percentage vs. the Vols in all time games. Get that up to at least 50% and then we can talk about Vandy. Until then, they're still " Candy"

Should Barnett have done it? No... but I like the fire! Ensworth QB should have taken a knee instead of dropping back (bad coaching and he paid for it).
We need players with that kind of fire instead of what we have had of recent years. Welcome to UT, bring that fire to the hill and get started building this thing back to what it needs to be.

Play started with 8 seconds left - it was fourth down. Taking a knee would have given BA the ball back, so Ensworth sophomore qb was just running out the clock. Actually a smart play. Reason Ensworth got a little upset about the late hit from behind is that the qb missed all of last year with a cracked vertebrae in his lower back. Doubt that Barnett knew that or was otherwise targeting the qb's back, but I can understand them being a little touchy about it. Just an unfortunate situation all around.

Ensworth should have taken a knee on the last play when they were up 21-12 instead of looking to pass downfield.

Exactly my thoughts--Barnett lost his cool and that's not okay. But, take a knee, don't drop back like you're going to pass.

They were up by 9 pts. don't think there is a 9 pt. play in football. Look like to me the QB was running for his life.

They were up by 9, but did not want to have their defense take the field again. He meandered around for almost the whole 8 seconds before going out of bounds and getting hit. Barnett was nowhere near him until he slowed down to go out of bounds. That is not running for your life.

I'll take solid players that have alot of FIRE in them every single time.

Bring more FIRE to the hill in K town and we'll all love it!

We can't wait to again set the SEC on FIRE with Vols Wins every week!

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Can't say I would've done any differently. That was bush-league to not take a knee there.

Also, it didn't look like he was that far out of bounds.

Looked like he was still in bounds...
He was. Was pushed in the back just as he stepped out. No big deal. It was the little high school wankers calling the game, that made an issue of it. They want to talk about Losers? Vandy has a very, very, very distinguished history on that very subject. Squeeking out a win vs UT after we've gone through 3-4 staff changes in the past 5 or so years, doesn't change that fact.

Every major program has it's peaks and valley's. Even Bamer, Florida State, Miami, Florida, USC, etc. All have gone through the valley this past decade. What's different between UT and Vandy, is Vandy has ALWAYS sucked. Just getting to a bowl game period is like a Superbowl for them.

Beating UT when we are at our lowest point doesn't say anything at all for them. We will quickly climb out of this hole, while they will be stuck with their losing tradition, and hoping to make a bowl game...period.

Would rather have a guy that aint afraid to hit someone late than a big teddy bear that gets pushed 5 yards back on every play. And that kid is a SA.

They were up 9. Didn't know there were 9pt plays for BA to win it?

Ricky Bowers the Ensworth coach is R A Dickey's (Our Baseball Cy Young Award Pitcher) uncle.

He's an ass IMO too. I wish TSSAA did state like FL does and made the private schools play the public schools for the state title. I'd love to see these prep school kids with resources out their ass get it handed to them. A Fulton-Ensworth matchup (assuming they'd fall in the same class) would be great.

Fulton would stomp a mud hole in Ensworth!
