Vol Starters - 5477#, Sooner Starters - 5609# - Not such a big deal IMO! Thought it would be interesting to see if the Okies were as big and bad as the hype! I have totaled the weights of all 22 offensive and defensive starters projected for both teams. Now let's compare the units opposing each other. The offensive starters for Tennessee have a combined weight of 2876 pounds. The defensive starters for Oklahoma have a combined weight of 2714 pounds. The offensive starters for Oklahoma have a combined weight of 2895#. The defensive starters for Tennessee have a combined weight of 2601 pounds. So our offense outweighs their defense by 162 pounds. Their offense outweighs our defense by 294 pounds. Wonder if quickness will come into play? Go, Vols!

In regard to total weight, I guess they have one more "Devrin Young" player than we do... Wish they'd take ours.

Perhaps my vodka to rational thinking ratio is off, but why the **** would you talk **** about Devrin Young? Did you see him in his RB assignment during ASU? This kid has a definite burst. Say what you will about him, but MB ran the same play twice when he was in. DY is probably the most dynamic player that we have on this roster. Look at his burst in his play vs. ASU. Also look at him in his practice highlights.

If anyone thinks our running game has been previewed during these last two games, I feel sorry for you. This running game will open up during OU. Take that to the bank.

I'll gladly eat crow Sunday if we don't have more rushing yards vs. OU than we did vs. Utah State or Arkansas State.

Weight really doesn't mean $h!t - comparisons of weight were made last year in attempts to make an argument that we stacked up against Oregon similar to Stanford (who beat them). The end result? We got smoked like the finest grass around!!

At the end of the day Oklahoma stacks up favorably against us in nearly every facet. To win we will need an ungodly thirst for victory and some luck against a hopefully uninspired OU team.

Last year the offense had the reverse problem - the OLine was doing pretty well but we had an abysmal passing game.

Also the defense was as bad as the Cowboy's defense squared

North, Pearson, pig, and Hurd all say hello.

DY has a burst like a fire cracker in a conference of TNT. Nothing against him, seems like a good guy, but I'll be happy to fill our roster with people that can really be a threat.

The fact that their O out weighs our D by an average of 28 pounds per player is eye opening. Hope it means we're faster because if not that means they got some big fast studs.

I am more interested in the fact that our team has played against teams that could have run Oklahoma's first 2 opponents out of the stadium.

Don't get me wrong. North, Pig, and Pearson all have my respect.

All I'm saying is go back and watch Devrin's run. He is explosive.

That is all.

And our offense outweighs their big, bad, score a 100 on the Vols D by 15 pounds per player.

Can you do an average of games played by the starters for each team? I would like to know how our experience (or lack of) stacks up against theirs?

Go read Neyland's Maxims, it comes down to execution. If the Vols out execute OU, they WILL WIN. But, they must play mistake free football.

Does OK have a greater chance to win than UT? Yes, but to think this is a FBS team against OK is just wrong. How can UT win - continue to play swarming defense and get the ball to their play makers in space. I'd throw to North every play he wasn't double teamed...that guy is NFL ready right now and catches almost everything thrown his way.

This isn't like last season against Oregon with a QB struggling with control of his passing. Worley's playing very solid this season. We have top notch play makers at WR, TE, and RB. Barring a total collapse of the OL, then there's a strong possibility UT scores 24+ points. If the OL is a sieve and/or gets pushed back 5 yards every play then all bets are off, but is that really likely?

Lenard Little was one of UT's best DE's ever and was in the 230-240 range, regularly giving up 70+ pounds to the guy attempting to block him.

The only weights that even remotely matter is on the offensive and defensive lines as far as possible advantages. Even then, you got to factor in other areas such as strength, speed, technique, and understanding of what they're supposed to be doing. Our biggest advantage on paper is the height/strength/speed combination of our WR's vs their smaller dbs. North, Malone, and Croom could cause some problems, but OU has a corner that is around 6'2 I believe, so the advantage is minimal at best. Quit looking for excuses that we have some kind of advantage over them physically, because that's not the case. They are big, strong, fast, and more experienced than we are so we got our work cut out for us. There's a reason why they're #4 in the nation! Anything can happen on any given day, but we don't really have any advantage on paper. I just want our guys to give their all and compete hard for 60 minutes reguardless of what the scoreboard says. A win would be huge, but we can still make progress within our team as long as they leave it all on the field and compete for the full 60 minutes.
