If Kasitati starts @ RG (319 lbs), OU averages 317 lbs per man across the 5 man front. If Evans starts ( he started against La. Tech ), his 331lb weight pushes the average up to a 320lb average. These weights are from pre-season.

Tennessee's 4 man front averages 273lbs.

Vol Starters - 5477#, Sooner Starters - 5609# - Not such a big deal IMO! Thought it would be interesting to see if the Okies were as big and bad as the hype! I have totaled the weights of all 22 offensive and defensive starters projected for both teams. Now let's compare the units opposing each other. The offensive starters for Tennessee have a combined weight of 2876 pounds. The defensive starters for Oklahoma have a combined weight of 2714 pounds. The offensive starters for Oklahoma have a combined weight of 2895#. The defensive starters for Tennessee have a combined weight of 2601 pounds. So our offense outweighs their defense by 162 pounds. Their offense outweighs our defense by 294 pounds. Wonder if quickness will come into play? Go, Vols!

I think it's more relevant to compare units vs eachother. I.e. oline vs dline.

OU starting Oline avg weight: 326 lbs.

Tenn starting avg Dline weight: 275 lbs.

50 lbs per player sounds like OU advantage.

On the flip side we have
Tenn starting avg oline weight: 311 lbs
OU starting avg Dline weight: 301 lbs.

Not as much of an advantage, especially since OU's nose tackle has 20 lbs on your guards and 30 lbs on the center.
