The numbers have been outlined in black for at least 20 years.

Actually I believe 1995 was the first year we started wearing them.

I wish Adidas would give us a replicas of the road jerseys before that, which had and orange "unattached" outline rather than a black one directly outlining the numbers. Who cares if Whoa Nelly's annoying ass couldn't read the numbers, they were beautiful.

It wasn't just Keith Jackson that was complaining, it was just about every single member of the media, and a lot of fans from what I've been told.

The black outline and nameplate looks a million times better than the Majors-era unis.

I'm not sure if it would have been. I've seen some unis that have had less contrast than Tennessee's older ones over the years.

For Adidas's sake, I hope Tech-Fit isn't their answer to Nike's Pro-Combat and UA's Wounded Warrior unis.

If it is, they got their a$$ handed to them.

And...I'd love to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth if UT had been approached to wear something like the Wounded Warrior unis....

....we can honor the troops without looking like them.

From the viewpoint of the people actually wearing the uniforms, if that's adidas's response, then yes, they're a distant third in the eyes of the players.

I just wish the damn things actually had sleeves. Most of the linemen look like they're wearing some kind of weird wifebeater.

I've changed my opinion a lot of the whole uniform thing. Does UT need to have an Oregon style rotation? Good lord no. But once a year, I really don't have a problem with wearing something different...especially if its used as some sort of team reward (good team GPA, or high participation in service projects= special unis. something like that).

Tennessee should have a special road jersey kinda like how the Nike Pro Combats are. Alabama's Pro combats have the elephant tusk inside the numbers. UT should/could do something like this but make the inside of the numbers checkerboard orange/white. I think it would look pretty cool plus still be somewhat traditional.

Air Force came to Neyland with silver numbers on white jerseys without an outline and they were much more difficult to read than the old UT white jerseys.

Speaking of Air Force...those Thunderbird unis they wore on Saturday were all kinds of awesome.

Army's grays weren't too shabby either.

They are supposed to fit tight. Looks ridiculous when they get moved around on the pads though.

I just wish the Vols would wear white socks and shoes. The black never made much sense to me.

Why would you care what UT wore? Especially when it comes to socks and shoes.

I like the new jerseys. I wish the addidas logo wasnt so big on the chest but smaller on the opposite side of the NCAA/SEC logo. I also like the White on Orange and Orange on White. I think it gives a solid mixture of keeping the main color (orange) in the uniforms. I think for certain games they should break out solid unis. Like have an Orange out (orange on orange) when they play a night game against say Alabama or Florida.

I would love to see it against Kentucky. They're going to come out in all white with blue helmets. We should really stand out and wear all orange. That plus the sea of orange in the stands might intimidate a few wildkittens

The helmet is key with that uni, too. It's got an industrial, military feel.

Anyone know if we ever got any other alternate jerseys like the black from last yr? I would like to see something different again, or to black out Neyland for thr the KY game as it should be the game that matters the most this season assumin we beat Vandy
