I'd love it, 80% would hate it.
I swear he would look into. Come home to Tenn. the state where he was raised. He has soo much pride, i believe he would do it 1. to coach at a national contender each year 2. Come home 3. get back at Fla for not hiring him back I think it would be outstanding for the FLA TENN rivalry

Got a question for you guys. Really crazy though, but if Tenn. were to have a "down" year and Fulmer is gone and all that good stuff. What if Spurrier were to inquire about the Tenn. job, how would Vols fans react?

I don't think it would be received well. I'd say there's about a .00001% chance that Spurrier will show genuine interest in the UT job.

I'd be stunned if Auburn finishes in the top 10. No Kenny Irons will be bad news for the Tigers.

1. USC
20. UT
119. Cal

and Kenny Irons really tore it up last year too right? Auburn will be fine at RB with Brad Lester. They just have to find a go to WR

He did decent and basically was the only offensive weapon against LSU. He would have been a lot better if Brandon Cox didn't play like crap. Cox is back, Irons isn't.

I think they'll split carries with Lester getting more...assuming he doesn't get arrested

I'm sure at a school with such a strong commitment to the education of its athletes Lester will spend most of his time in class or studying and thus not have time to get arrested.

1. I hear about Spurrier incessantly every freaking time I go visit my wife's family in Johnson City, which is Spurrier's hometown. While there are a bunch of UT fans who might hate him for all time, there's at least a contingent who still regard him as a wandering son waiting to come home.

2. I'd trade Fulmer for Spurrier today without thinking about it. Duh.

3. That said, he's 62 years old today. If Fulmer were to "retire" after this year, hiring a 63-year-old coach to come in and start afresh doesn't make that much sense. I'd love to have seen it happen at some point, but it's too late.

Agree with all of that.

If there isn't a good young coach available, I'd prefer to get Spurrier for a few years rather than settle for someone. I think UT's next coaching hire needs to be a very, very, very good one. Meyer, Saban, and Richt will all be around for awhile and we need someone who can stand up to those guys.

They have a chance of losing to Penn State, Michigan, UCLA, Boston College, USC, and Navy.

After beating them 40-some times in a row, I have a hard time putting Navy in the "might loose" column for Notre Dame.

Remember, most folks are ranking USC #1, a team that lost to a mediocre UCLA team and otherwise really wasn't all that impressive.

SC will be very good, and looking at their schedule, it is simply very hard to find somebody who will beat them.

Sept. 1 Idaho
Sept. 15 at Nebraska
Sept. 22 Washington State
Sept. 29 at Washington
Oct. 6 Stanford
Oct. 13 Arizona
Oct. 20 at Notre Dame
Oct. 27 at Oregon
Nov. 3 Oregon State
Nov. 10 at California
Nov. 22 at Arizona State
Dec. 1 UCLA

They go to Nebraska, ND, Oregon, and Cal, but if you were handicapping all games today, the Trojans would probably be at least -6 against everybody in the field.

Heh heh. Herbstreit only beat clucko the chicken in predicting games.

Kirk Herbstreit: 'I Was an Idiot' - Sports Blog - The FanHouse

Last season, Saurian Sagacity pointed out that Herbstreit was in next to last place among picking college football winners heads up. The only pundit Herbstreit beat out for better predictions? Collegefootballnews.com's Clucko the Chicken, who makes picks based on selecting between two feed bowls that represent the two teams playing in a given game.
