Vols -1.5 against miss st….am I missing something??

Just like Purdue got beat by Nebraska and Houston got beat by Iowa st... Miss St just had 3 losses and playing at home. Vegas has been very close on these kind of games....
I just feel like that’s a ridiculous spread after the way we just played. South Carolina just got absolutely waxed by Alabama, after beating miss st convincingly.

I feel like I’m missing something. Our offense is playing at a level it hasn’t before. And I think with the experience this team has, we’re going to basically just take off from here.

Patience. We’ll have a better feel about their trajectory this time tomorrow tonight. Huge measuring stick after the carnage of upsets tonight.

State will try to puke us. The officials have to keep the game in control. I think Vols will win and cover. It will be the type of game we make a couple of big baskets under 2 minutes to cover the spread. Again, if we think we are conf contenders we gotta pull out these next two road games. This game will be a thug fest. Getting to the rim will be difficult. Those players will be mugged and assaulted. Lol.

That’s not the way basketball works. Road games against physical teams are tough. State will be more physical than Purdue, Kansas, or Carolina. We gotta get to the free throw line to win this game. Go Vols!

Was hoping they’d be without Smith but he’s played their last 2 games. Looks like they have several bigs to throw at us.

Not this year. I think the conference champ is gonna be closer to 13-5 than 16-2. It's a very deep league. Every team will have road loses. 6-3 at the end of the season on the road could be enough so we would still have a couple of loses to play with.

Is there something I don’t know? Is everyone playing? How are we only 1.5 point favorites here? And the over is 138….what’s going on here???
Miss St is 28 in Kenpom rankings and have played most of the season without Tolu Smith. This is about what I expected. They are gonna slow this down and shorten the game and Vegas knows this.

Tennessee's last road game to another school's gym was Chapel Hill, need to see if we can put a complete game together on the road, it isn't that easy in the SEC, particularly with significant offensive inconsistency, need to build on the Ole Miss game, Hump is still one of the tougher legacy venues in the SEC to play well in, Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville and the Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa fall into that category as well, Stegman over in Athens has been a challenge from time to time, but the basketball program at Georgia can be more of an on campus club sport according to many of their football boosters.

Teams getting dominated on the road this will be a lot tougher game than Ole Miss. We better have lots of energy and intensity tonight or we'll go down just like Houston and Purdue.

Pretty much right as expected for those who follow college basketball closely…last night was a reminder that games on the road in conference play are tough, even to unranked opponents. You mention MSST just losing to SC, that was away from home, again a totally different beast.

Nebraska was 14-23 from three. Nobody is beating that.

Since everyone is making predictions, here’s mine. I see 2 different games depending upon the officials. If it’s a whistle fest, we win by 4. If it’s called closer to the Ole Miss style, VOLS by 11. I think you guys are selling us short and I do follow the “no easy conference road games” theory. The way we’re currently playing, when we hit 35%+ of the wide open 3’s we are the best team in the SEC.

I don’t disagree, I do think we’re playing well and are the better team. But we know too well from last year that even the better team can get punted on the road. We went to Nashville and Gainesville thinking two lesser teams would roll over for us and we paid the price.

I think MSU is a really tough defense that is going to slow the game down and be extremely physical. We all know that Knecht doesn’t like physicality so I don’t expect to get much from him tonight.

It’s going to be incumbent on our experienced upperclassmen to clamp down and lead us. As others have said, MSU is a desperate team that needs a quality win on their resume. This game has scared me a bit from when the schedule released. It’s a tough place to play. I still think we win but I wouldn’t be shocked if tonight is one of those 54-51 type games where we can’t throw it in the ocean.

going to depend on if we go in our offensive hole for 4567 minutes at a time.. cant disagree with any of the posts either way but if we are a veteran team that will hold composure this should be a win.. no not easy but one a veteran team wins...
