It’s Starkvegas…which portends to be a night in the Twilight Zone already. We don’t get to start where we left off last. We start at zero, not 90. And like someone mentioned, Smith back makes them the real deal. So if things start looking bleak, please don’t start pulling scholarships and firing our coach.

Since everyone is making predictions, here’s mine. I see 2 different games depending upon the officials. If it’s a whistle fest, we win by 4. If it’s called closer to the Ole Miss style, VOLS by 11. I think you guys are selling us short and I do follow the “no easy conference road games” theory. The way we’re currently playing, when we hit 35%+ of the wide open 3’s we are the best team in the SEC.
I was thinking that last line too. They'll be aggressive with us. If we're shooting well from 3, we should be fine. They'll likely make more mistakes than us, but they could outrebound us.

MSU leads the SEC in 3-pt FG% defense and opponents PPG. Their defense is pretty good (#10 on KenPom). Weare going to have to have Aidoo and Awaka be difference-makers in the paint and shoot a respectable number from 3. Probably a game where we need Knecht...and I never thought I'd say this, but...JJJ get some buckets going to the basket, because MSU is going to defend the perimeter.

Good opportunity for you to make a killing on the over-under and the game winner. Good luck.
No way I would touch this game. Vegas has it basically as a pick’em. My heart says Vols win tonight. I’ve got my orange colored glasses on though. This game will drive vol fans nuts tonight watching. state will grind this down into an ugly game. I think ZZ will be the difference to put us over the top. Their two big men are animals, not like the ole miss bigs who were rim protectors. Hope smith gets in foul trouble.

Just need to stay within 5 on the boards, 10 made threes would be nice tonight, but that’s a stretch with as good as they defend the perimeter. I’m feeling positive vibes about this game. Go Vols!

It's on the road and we've struggled with physical teams. 1.5 might be a little low but it doesn't seem crazy tbh...

Winning this type of game more often than not is what separates 1/2 seeds from those on the 3/4 line
I agree with your take. Tonight’s game can impact top line seeding for the big dance. One may argue it’s only early January. I’m sure a lot of vol fans have this game marked as a win tonight. Unfortunately many do not understand the difficulty we face to win this game. Barnes needs to work the officials hard tonight. drives to the basket tonight will unleash muggings.

State will try to puke us. The officials have to keep the game in control. I think Vols will win and cover. It will be the type of game we make a couple of big baskets under 2 minutes to cover the spread. Again, if we think we are conf contenders we gotta pull out these next two road games. This game will be a thug fest. Getting to the rim will be difficult. Those players will be mugged and assaulted. Lol.
Their defense is highly ranked. Top 15 according to some analysts.

Pretty much right as expected for those who follow college basketball closely…last night was a reminder that games on the road in conference play are tough, even to unranked opponents. You mention MSST just losing to SC, that was away from home, again a totally different beast.
And they only lost by 6 ... ON THE ROAD. Not shabby.
The rule of thumb is win at home ... and pile up as many road wins as possible.
If it is an extremely physical game, we will have our hands full ... TN 78-68.... I hope.

Let's hope UT gets a fair shake with the officials. Vols can get down and dirty with anyone, so the calls will be a factor. Call it fairly; REFS!
Auburn got a home floor call on at least one rebound last night. I recall once when the score was close, around four minutes left, where the Aggie got pushed into the cheerleaders… no call.
