Vols 1 seed

No, we're not lucky it doesn't count. It was a freaking exhibition game. Coaching and substitution patterns weren't the same as for a regularly scheduled game. Geez. I'm almost surprised you typed that

We’re lucky that it doesn’t count as far as being ranked #7. I said we’re about the 10th-15th best team right now.

We may be giving a walk on some of Estrella's minutes if we get in deep foul trouble in the post.

All of the walk ons are guards so we’d have to be going really small. Dubar or Mashack might be forced to play the “5”. At least two of the walk ons are 6’6” so we could be playing very large on the perimeter while being very small inside.

The defensive end would be the problem if a couple of the 3 posts are limited due to fouls. But a few years ago Barnes did say he’d like to have 5x 6’7” or so players on the floor to be able to switch on every screen. At least the Barnes defense is designed to bring a lot of help. But an Edey type would be unstoppable.,

Maybe Barnes could borrow Jeremias Heard a 6'9 offensive lineman from the football squad to pull a Julius Peppers and help out the basketball squad with some inside depth.

That used to happen to some degree a long time ago. Bill Young was a DB and was also on the basketball team. At least as a freshman. Doug Atkins was signed to play basketball.

Baseball had many cross over players. Football players would come to UT to also participate in track and field. I think that Chuck Rohe was on the football staff as a recruiter in addition to being the track coach.

TN played IU on a court in front of a paying crowd. It wasn’t a hypothetical scrimmage. TN didn’t put on one of their best efforts that day and were lucky that it did not count (in order to achieve the #7 ranking). .
Scrimmages never count. In your make believe world, maybe IU is lucky it wasn't a real game because we would have played differently and won. It's a useless point

It’s meaningless in rankings and post season tournament seeding. It isn’t meaningless that TN failed to beat IU. IU was in the same boat. It was just as meaningless to them.
Exhibition. Organized Scrimmage.

It's meaningless in W-L record too. We haven't lost a game.

There were no betting odds nor money line for the game.

As good as Phillips was in terms of offense and rebounding against Baylor he still had his struggles getting pushed too far under the basket on defense. To me, that's my biggest concern. Who guards the post if Okpara gets in foul trouble or simply gets his rest.

I guess a #7 ranking in the first month of the season counts for everything in your make believe world.

You’re awfully triggered by me posting my opinion that TN is LUCKY that their poor performance versus IU doesn’t count against that #7 ranking. It was a terrible showing. At home in front of a paying crowd. Took 35 of 59 shots from 3 while only hitting 23% of them. 15 turnovers. The two low posts had 7 fouls in 40 minutes. ZZ and Chaz were 5 for 26. They had a very bad day and LUCKILY it didn’t count.

You literally used a hypothetical and are accusing me of making it up. Your lack of self awareness is duly noted. That's literally one of the dumbest comments I've read.

You called out for a dumb post, and now you sound like a little kid defending that dumb post. We're undefeated right now. Best thing you could do for yourself is STFU

You seem to be on a deranged mission to harass me because I posted an opinion.

BTW, go read your Political Forum posts and you’ll find a **** ton of dumb comments.

Are you having comprehension difficulties? If the loss to IU counted TN would not be ranked #7.
What you refuse to concede to is that it wasn't "lucky." If the game had counted, Barnes would have approached it completely differently. I'm not saying we would have definitely won, but to say we are "lucky" is not representative of reality.

Barnes would have had them make more than 23% of 35x 3-point attempts?

It was a poor performance that day. Luckily, for creating rankings, it didn’t count.

Okay, I'll agree with that. On the other hand, the fact that they shot that poorly, went with multiple experimental lineups (including in crunch time), and were still in the game until the end is very encouraging to me. I believe Chaz may have been less than a hundred percent, and I doubt we'll see him shoot that poorly again all year. So, yes, I'm glad it didn't count.

According to you😯

Only a real loser would bring up politics in a sports forum. Even worse, using a dumbed downed echo chamber as an example.
"I think I will bring up a hypothetical and then accuse others of making it up"

It's becoming more clear to me now
