Vols' 2014 class rated 41st by 247

Can't have it both ways.....don't people give Zo credit for Maymon's improvement and that was just a few weeks.

I think the smart people know his lack of previous playing time had more to do with Stevie getting his minutes. Which was insane btw.

His lack of playing time had to do with the fact that he played out of control....he had to learn to let the game slow down.....I really dont think Pearl would have played his son if Maymon was ready.

I dont think Pearl should get credit for either NBA player. Coaches may help mold players some but alot of it is up to the individual player.

Exactly. Tobias had the skills when he got here and CJ worked like hell to improve his game after he graduated.

When a guy is only getting a few minutes a game, he's going to try to do too much. It happens all the time.

If Maymon was consistently getting Steven's minutes we would have been a much better team. It's no coincidence that the next season Maymon had a 30pt 20rbd game like 5 games in. It's because he wasn't constantly looking over his shoulder.

It's either that or Martin improved him that much in the off-season..which I don't think is the case.

The other huge reason Maymon's sophomore season was so messed up is that (a) he was eligible until semester break (b) the UT admin kept dragging out his eligibility for two weeks after the presumed eligibility date and (c) just as he got eligible, the news about Pearl being suspended was dumped on them and the season went into a tailspin. Maymon's first game of eligibility, he played more minutes than Pearl. For 7 of the next 8 games (games that Bruce Pearl was suspended for the most part) he got more minutes than Pearl. He didn't produce.

No doubt, Maymon had way more upside than Steven Pearl, but if he'd been eligible from the beginning of the season, instead of coming in in the middle of the maelstrom, I suspect it would have worked out better for everyone.

All 2 of them haha!!!!!!!!

That's my point. Pearl was apparently such a great molder of talent yet he managed to "send" two guys on. Two guys, as others have said, he really had minimal impact on.

For those who haven't got my drift, I believe Pearl was a mediocre developer of talent at best. Once he lost CL it was mostly downhill from there outside of the Elite 8 run. And I'm not sold on CCM either. He's consistently taken more talented teams and lost to far inferior teams.
