Vols #6 in Coaches Poll

I think everyone can see that UT has the intangibles and is soooo close to putting it together for a complete game. And that is no doubt a top 5 team and NC contender. As it is, we have struggled more than we should have to put teams away. Then again, we have gritted it out and still been able to stay 7-1 against some strong competition. The SEC is just a bit wild this year.

I am hoping the lights come on for everyone at GA - AND we take care of Vandy (feels so weird to say that) in a decisive manner.

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, but I’m not sure what more we need to prove for our own fans to start believing. Yeah, the wins haven’t been particularly pretty, but they are wins. We’ve spent enough time in the cellar, I say enjoy the ride. 7-1 feels pretty good.
People haven’t adjusted their expectations ever since we had Hooker and a dominate offense. That simply isn’t what this team is. We play great defense and do enough on offense to get the win. That means we don’t blow out a whole lot of teams

If we drop a close game to UGA we might still be in the playoff hunt, all depends on what happens this upcoming week and where the playoff committee spots us on Nov 5th
We really need Bama to lose to LSU If we can’t beat Georgia. The pundits are still talking about them getting in. Also need Miami to win the ACC and beat Clemson.

I swear we could be 8-0, scoring a lot of points per game and some would still say we don't deserve to be in the top 10.

Some act like we are 1-7, not 7-1. Good thing this board did not exist in 1998.
It's crazy, but I won't take part in the negativity. D is still holding opponents under 20. I like their chances against everyone the rest of the way.

Can't argue with it. The way our offense is struggling, I don't think we could beat anyone above us except for Miami. That would be a great game. Everybody above us is beatable, but the Nico that played against Iowa in the bowl game would have to show up, not the current Nico. And it isn't all on him. The o line is pourous. Nico panics when he's pressured. Our receivers are real head scratchers. They make an amazing catch on a poorly placed pass while having a DB on them like a wet T-shirt, then have a pass hit them in the hands without a defender within 5 yards and miss it.

Nico played better against UK on Saturday than he did against Iowa.

maybe A&M shouldn't have stunk it up in Columbia Saturday night!
Maybe they shouldn’t have. But they beat LSU head to head and have the same record. Now, maybe it’s just me, but if the playoff committee has similar feelings as the pollsters do in that head to head results don’t matter, that could spell trouble for Tennessee if we were to lose another game.

What I find incredible is that Bee Why Who will be in the playoffs with a bye.

Stats wise he did do better. But the eyeball test says that he didn't look as good. He's gotten panicky under pressure and he looks less accurate. A lot of that is driven by weak o line play.
You hear quarterbacks talking about the game slowing down for them at a certain point in their career. It doesn't appear that he's there yet. He sees ghosts when he's in the pocket.

I’ve always disliked the phrase “the eyeball test.” What people really mean when they say this is, “My skewed opinion based on what I want to see.” It’s funny how everyone’s eyeball test is different. It’s clearly not an objective measure.

My eyeballs saw multiple dropped TD passes that were extremely accurate throws. With those catches, he has nearly 400 yards and 3-4 TD throws. Despite those drops, he still had 292 yards on 74% completion. His accuracy was definitely improved against Kentucky. He also made two very key 3rd down plays on our final 90 yard drive to put the game away.
