It's hardly new age. We are 6th based on our average star ranking. We have a smaller class at this point. If we had 30 three stars we would have a higher overall ranking than if we had 2 5 stars and 5 four stars. Not rocket science.

LSU is shown on rivals as the #2 class with 17 recruits and an average ranking of 3.47. Your logic looks very weak. I would take LSU's 3.47 average and ACTUAL number #2 class over ours and they only have one extra recruit. Anyhow, everyone continuing high fiving our #19class (that is now recalculated by OP to #6). According to OP, we are right where we need to be. LOL.

Do you not think that we're going to get any more recruits? The rivals total ranking at this point is more a measure of how many recruits you have rather than how good they are. Average rating is more accurate at this point since so many players have yet to commit and so many schools have lots of slots open.

Lol. It's not my 'logic', dude. It's an explanation of their stat calculation.

I, personally, trust this staff's evaluation of talent far more than any recruiting site. I follow TN recruiting everyday and I see absolutely no need to panic about recruits this year. It's not a great year for talent generally, imo. But by far the biggest get for us is JG. He will be our QB of the future. As far as talent fitting scheme, no one has done better at the most important position.

Wish we were saying this regarding Basketball. Can you imagine Barnes bringing in a 6th rank recruiting class?

Excellent observation, OP. Naturally the negas will react. Add to your positive comment the fact that with a couple of 5*s committing (only 11 have committed nationwide to date), then the Vols are in top 5 territory. 'Prolly won't happen, but add to a pair of 5*s a couple of 4*s replacing current 3*s, then the Big Orange is flirting with the top spot...at least when using the counting-top-twenty-only formula. Butch's recruiting tenacity is remarkable.
